oh fuck, that's awful.  didja miss it, entirely or have to scramble with success... ?
Anyway, condolences on your trouble.  I hope you made the best out of it.
O, How time flies, with crystal clear eyes.  But it's cold, it's cold, when you're ending with diamond eyes.

Awesome! Thanks for the pics,Dasmond!
The fact that my hearts beating
is all the proof you need

I wasn't at Bonnaroo, so I didn't ACTUALLY miss it. I just had the days mixed up in my head.
There was a death in my family, so everything has been kinda crazy the last few days.

I got this in a message from Mark this morning. I sent him a message telling him I wanted a full report when he gets home. This is what I got as  a quick response:

epic man.got the whole thing in the rain. it was a herculean effort.return to thunderdome 2.took me until late yesterday to recover

------

AWESOME. I can't wait to hear it. I'm sure it'll be out there sometime next week after he gets home and has some recovery time. My guess is that he probably taped shitloads of bands.

My fingers are starting to lose that prune texture, but it was worth it. Motley Crue at 4AM!!  My mind was just bent, I am a huge crue fan since I was in high school in the 80s.  That was extra special for me.    Please dear god sell this one on Live Bonnaroo.

QuoteMy buddy Mark Lynn was planning on taping it. He taped Thunderdome a few years ago in the middle of "the shit". You can hear him scrambling to get in a portapotty at the very end of the last track from that show so that he could turn his gear off.

I also have to wonder if this will pop up on livebonnaroo.com. I figure the epic show from a couple of years ago never got released because it would have conflicted with "okonokos"... but there's really no reason NOT to release this one unless it just didn't get multi-tracked for some reason.
I agree with that analysis but lets keep our fingers crossed.  I hope a good audience tape comes out soon but as Jim said the other night, Electronics and Rain are not Friends!

I will say that the rain made it a bit of a bummer in terms of the crowd.  It was pretty reduced due to the rain.  But the vibe was so extra special that I would never have missed it in a million years. I only wish Phil and MMJ had switched nights.  The weather for Phil was awesome and the place was packed.  Jim was an absolute dancing fool with the cape, doing James Brown moves in a cape, he looked like the Vampire of Soul.  Dear god I love this band.

Now only 5 days till NYC!!!!!! :D

Jim

that setlist is absolutely disgusting. oh man, sooooo good.

Jon T.

Great pictures! Thanks dasmond.
This one in particular.

Looks like he is channeling John Bonham.

I was barely able to finish the show. With a couple of songs remaining, I had to step out of the front of the crowd and get some water, air, food, and take a piss. After over four hours of head banging, singing, and dancing in near-sleet, I literally had hypothermia. No joke. Thank god I was able to make it the entire show without checking out. After the two plus mile walk back to camp, I was totally delirious. Nothing I said made any sense to anyone. But I remember everything.

I've never been rocked like that. Holy shit where to begin?

First of all, I got to hang out with a few fellow Jacketeers, which was insanely awesome. Ya'll know who you are - I love you guys. Honest love. There should be a really sexy photo surfacing around here, somewhere.

Second of all. The rain was chaos all over the stage. Carl had a pile of towels at his feet from frantically trying to keep his fret board and fingers dry. Crew members were scrambling to and fro and tossing blankets and towels on equipment. Carl's guitar(s) simply stopped working, on occasion. The omnichord was a casualty and was replaced with verbal beeps and bops from Mr. Jimmy James. All of this, and the music was fucking incredible. A lot of bands would have had to take a huge break to piece things together, but they just kept rocking.

Second of all. What the fuck, Patrick? That drum solo at the end of Steam Engine? Oh my god that was freaking awesome. Carl's guitar went kaput, leaving Patrick to buy time for the crew and just moby dick that motherfucker. Damn, son. I want to hear more random drum solos, now.

Third. The entire crowd seemed to sing along with the Evil Urges songs. Highly Suspicious was an amazing hit. Haha.

In closing, you are as dedicated to us as we are to you. God bless and thank you, My Morning Jacket. I may have straggled off into the cow pasture with hypothermia, but it was worth it - one of the best nights of my life.

Quotejust moby dick that motherfucker.
I have found my new tagline.
My jealousy of those who witnessed this spectacle is indescribable. It looks as if the Jacket is truly back, and I just hope they whip some of that shit out on Friday!

This is by far the best show I have ever seen, not just by MMJ, but by anyone.  It was non-stop, outside of a short intermission, Jacket rocking.  The rain was brilliant.  I don't know why anyone would stay away because of the rain.  With all that head-baning and dancing around, the rain kept me cool.  My highlights were OBH, Tyrone (can't believe I saw this live), and Phone Went West.  The entire band was really feeling it this night.  I can't wait to see them in Lousiville in August.  Does anyone know if they have ever played longer than 4 hours.  This has got to be a Jacket record.

Hubcap

unreal show.

I hope everyone saw pearl jam as well they rocked the place to.

What a great weekend this was, cant wait till next year.
