Come to London!

Peeps into Fairyland

Hello my 2nd post,

I also went to the Rescue Rooms gig and had a great time all bit detracted by that drunk moron and his slightly less drunk mate.
I was standing right behind them.

I can confirm that both of them were putting away quite a bit of alcohol through out the show.
Nothing wrong with that but I told the guy that didn't get thrown out to stop swaying back and forth as he was going to crack [hit] me in the head.

The other one that did get thrown out was singing so loud and so terrible.  :'(
I asked him several times to be quite another chap near me must of asked him at least half a dozen times to be quite.

Neither of us could reason with him because he was so pissed [drunk].
But when Jim came out on his own with only a acoustic guitar the drunken lout sang so loud and out of key it really spotlit it for me.
I think even Jim looked slightly annoyed at that point.

So when he got thrown out I enjoyed the performance so much more.

I spoke to one of the security personnel at the end of the show and asked why couldn't you got rid of him earlier?

The security person told me that the band had requested that if the guy was spoiling the performance for other people to eject him.

Near the end they [Security] did decide he was being a nuisance.

So better late than never!  :P

Back to MMJ another great show by the boys.  :D
Jim with his thumbs up.  ;D
A song is a beautiful lie

Come to London!
I wish I could!
My life is going through a bit of a sucky phase at the moment so it can't be.
You have fun, though. Say hello to Mark if you bump into him.
I'll be thinking about you all  :)

This was my first MMJ show (3rd time lucky, after two previous cancelled Brum shows). What an excellent night, shame the drunken fool behind me and the wife was not pulled out earlier, I so much wanted to hear Steam Engine.
On the way back to carpark, bumped into Jim, Patrick and Bo walking to their hotel next door. They seem such genuinely nice down to earth people, they signed my set list.
I hope its not too long before they return to the UK.
:)

QuoteDid Jim actually say "we're not playing those songs now. You ruined it on everyone" or something? Maybe they just werent on the setlist.
They were on the printed setlist which was on the stage.  I didn't hear Jim say anything about these songs, they just didn't play them, so I don't really know the reason, but it is strange that these were the two songs that this guy was shouting out for all night!

I think i was in a good position to see the whole unfolding and figure out what happened - i was at the front right near jim and his technician...

PWW and SE were definitely both on the setlist, from which they were playing all the songs in order. At some point a few songs before PWW and SE were gonna be played (both of which were together), JJ went over to his guitar guy and had a quiet word....then the songs were crossed off the setlist, and they replaced them with mahgeeta tacked on as the closer.

I assume that this was related to the drunken arse who was requesting those 2 constantly and just generally being a cock...although i don't know whether it was because the boys were pissed off with it, or they thought he would just go mental if they played the songs...either way, we didn't get to hear them and i'm gutted!

jackethead

Pissed off that they didn't play either of those two - an ideal venue for them to do that 'time-stands-still' thing.... but hey....

I would have loved Dondante or I Will Sing You Songs too, but they were on for an up beat show and it was great.

Given that it was significantly more crowed than the last time they played there, i doubt they'll be back - so that may be the smallest venue they play for years...

Cheers,
John

QuoteGreat show! Jim was awesome, he seemed really playful and happy all evening and was a true performer. The band was solid and grooved it out.

But...one gripe: i'm devastated they took phone went west and steam engine (two of my favourites  :D) out of the setlist because some drunken arsehole was yelling for them constantly...and replaced them with magheeta. So, we lost two long, amazing songs for one shorter, very good song  :(

one mahgeetah is worth a billion phone went wests!!! you should be thankful!

This was the first time I've seen MMJ live and it was amazing (with the exception of the drunk ass in the front). Am still buzzing 3 days later, haven't listened to anything else since and can't wait for the next one at the forum tomorrow night. It's going to be awesome! :D

QuoteIt's at the Rescue Rooms, right? Decent venue in an awesome city. . . You'll have a blast : )

goshdarnit I'm jealous of you Brits . . .
Because they get 8 shows every 3 years?
You obviously missed the part about venues holding "a couple hundred people." Those days are long gone for any one state-side.
Because if there's one thing that goes well with shooting zombies it's a Dolly Parton cover-el chode
