do you think the boys will play any covers on their "an evening with" tour? i would hope so...

they didn't at radio city, but maybe that's because they're going to release it.  who knows...

I sure hope so... I'm sure they will definately play covers for the NYE show at MSG. But so far they I don't believe they have not played covers on this "evening with MMJ" tour. Except for the Bonnaroo show, I don't think they have played any covers this summer. Has anyone seen their set lists from the recent European shows?

yea, but the euro shows weren't "an evening with"...

I can see covers at red rocks, louisville and of course MSG.  I wish they would play more, it really gives a the band a nice feel...it shows that they are also fans of music.   plus, I would imagine, playing the same songs every night might get a little old, so to throw a cover here and there would keep things FRESH!

Hey Pennylane, I was listening to 107.1 in Austin a few weeks ago and they said something about Mark Knopfler of the Dire Straits playing with MMJ that night, but I haven't been able to find anything else.  If he was there, I can definitely see a few covers being played.

wow-that would be really cool-i don't see anything scheduled for MK for austin on his website--i was sorry i missed him here in central park but tix were kind of $$ --oh that would be so awesome if jim and mark did sailing to philadelphia....or even money for nothing LOL-thanks for the info

I hear ya...but a cover is something unexpected.  And when ever they cover a song they always give it the respect it deserves but at the same time give it that MMJ feel, to point where you feel like it could be "their own song".  Ex: Oh Sweet Nothin'

I with you on this.  Its funny going into Radio City I expected some covers but when it was over I was completely happy they didn't play any.  I think their original music is more than enough.  Don't get me wrong a great cover mixed in would be cool.  I think on the Z tour they would do Northern Sky by Nick Drake and a few others which was cool.  To be honest when I listen to the Roo' bootleg I find myself skipping over a few of them.  They will def play some on NYE but I got a feeling that this tour it will be rare.

i agree--i don't need covers--the reason i went down to bonnaroo was to hear the covers---that's what makes THAT show special (probably along w/the hometown show)--this tour i want to hear their stuff--MAYBE one cover--instead of a cover, though--i'd rather hear something off tennessee fire rather than a motley crue song (no offense--it's awesome at the ROO!!)

all I'm saying is this: I watched them cover get down on it from bonaroo on youtube and was thinking they could rock the shit outa Will2K on NYE, i think it would be such a awesome and fun cover!
Oh I'll never say I knew you, but my heart can't wait to meet you on the other side

Good point...good point.  But certain songs such as Tyrone and it Make's No Difference feel like "their songs" just as much as any other...im just sayin'.  But I feel ya on the whole, covers for certain show's kinda thing - it makes it special.

I would also like to hear songs off Tenn Fire more than a cover - hopefully THE BEAR will be worked in their sets some more, and the new vamped up soul-a-licious They Ran.
