thanks guys, I think my moms clipped that for me but I failed to read it... I do recall the Belle though, just didn't remember the star.
I think they should ride up on a john boat.

Hey Kory, Given, and others familiar with the venue,

We've had some crazy changes to our plans again.  It looks like we might be bringing the little ones along (almost 3 and 7 year olds).  My wife has become increasingly infatuated with MMJ over the last 3-4 months and was really looking forward to the show.  However with the disruption of our long ago plans to do this show 'adults only' style, she has offered to miss the show and hang out with the boys.  I know it's an all ages show, but it's a little too much to ask of the boys to hang in there until 11 or midnight.  So, my question is:
Are there places throughout the park that she might be able to hang out with the boys and still hear a little audio of JJ belting out some fine tunes (I think if she heard Magheeta, she might faint)?  I've checked out Waterfront Park's site and there are some cool things to do like the big playground and water play areas and just hanging out on some green patches and playing ball and being silly.  But does anyone know if she might be able to catch a few tunes while being the awesome woman that she is and playing with the little ones?  Sorry for the very long post, but I'm just trying to make it all work out.  Thanks, guys and gals.

@Wharf rat.....You could try to make a reservation at Joe's Crab Shack to sit outside. Not only will she be able to hear, but she'll have a decent view. I HIGHLY suggest that she do this, if possible.  If not, there is a playground in the park that she could no doubt play with the kids at that is also incredibly close and could very easily hear the show.  However, even if reservations can't be made, it would be worth going early and just posting up for the night at Joes...you can always do the playground afterwards...

also, I've noticed a lot of activity at the waterfront today, namely golf carts riding around the area where the stage is likely to be set...looks like they're starting to get ready, but nothing constructed just yet.

Oh, we posted a little mini-interview with Patrick Hallahan today as part of a series of interviews we've done for Louisville bands.  Check it out at Backseat Sandbar

Good suggestion on Joes!
The playground is somewhat on the eastern side of the park system down there. There are some hills that may block some sound but I'm sure you could hear. I'd maybe think about Joes though just for safety's sake. Louisville is a very safe city but I'd feel weird being anywhere somewhat alone after dark.

If the "gates" open at 6:30 I am guessing that they are going to have a certain area completely fenced off for the 8,000 lucky SOB's who have tickets.  Even though it is fenced off you will be able to hang out anywhere on the waterfront be it the harbor or the playground and still hear everything just fine.

Thanks for all the input, everyone.  I was curious as to how much area might be fenced off for showgoers only, but it sounds like my lady will be able to catch some sound.  We'll make it work somehow.

You might reconsider the Joe's thing.  Not totally...not because it's a bad idea-in fact it's a great idea!  It's just that three hours (realistically four hours) at a restaurant/bar with kids-even with an outdoor spot, may be a little much.  Plus the little ones may get tuckered out.

My suggestion----Do the Joe's thing.  After a little while there, walk over to the Great Lawn, but behind the expressway (see pictures from a couple of pages ago) lay down a blanket, out of everyones way and chill there.  There is so much room there that she won't have to worry about any trouble and she'll be able to hear fabulously.  Make sure to bring sweaters and/or a cover blanket for the kiddos though, because it may get chilly at night by the river.  The little ones may even want to fall asleep out there, while your lady stares up at the sky, imagining Jim's lyrics coming true.

Just a suggestion.

Is the show sold out?  I would guess with only 8000 tickets being sold that it would definitely sell out.

I'll be in line in less than 72 hours.

Not yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if it does.

I know it's all fun and games right now, but I need to ask a serious question:

(spies...close your eyes)

What kind of atmosphere will there be for the show?  And what I mean is, will this be anything like a Bonnaroo show, since it's outside?  How nutty can we get?  No matter what, I'm going to be highly medicated with good happy stuff, but I was just kind of wondering about the type of crowd b/c my girlfriend is sorta paranoid that people will think she's some crazy drug fiend.  I have confidence, b/c MMJ fans are nice folks.

To get a good spot up front when would you suggest getting in line?
