I got my tickets just a minute ago but it does not mention if they are sending out tickets, if we print them or if it is will call, or a final total for that matter. Is it $100 even for each ticket? I guess it can be since it is a "donation."

Who else is going?

Twofingers..you may want to try this..

"For more information please email Liz Houlihan at ehoulihan@barackobama.com or call (312) 350-2598"

and then let us know what you find out? :-)

oceanbilly

I just got two tickets as well.

I figure they will have a list at the door (as they have done this in the past for shows at Schubas), and you will need your ID and/or credit card to get into the show.

But, this is all pure speculation.

This is turning out to be one of the best weekends of the year for me...

this sours me a bit. I know that it is a free country and Jim damn well has the right to play for whoever he wants. I just wish he would transcend such two-party system crap and be a musical messiah. I dont think Obama needs the money, I would rather he play for the intrepid fallen heroes fund, something that is truly worthy of our giving. For everyone that is about to bash me, Im a libertarian so save your left wing fanatical breath. You are going to need it.  :o

Then don't go.  If you decide to stop following the band because of political beliefs, that's on you not them, in my opinion.

I think when you said "free country" you said it all.......you should have stopped there.

I agree with you man.  I don't like it when artists do the whole political thing.  I go to movies and listen to music to get away from politics and 24 hour news.  I also agree that if you are going to charge $100 per ticket, it should go to something a little more important than a politician's campaign.  I wouldn't give money to either candidate so they can pay for their manipulative ads.  Really, both of the candidate's campaigns have been pretty pitiful...I know its politics as usual, but that's just the point....spend your money elsewhere.  I'd pay $100 to see Jim play anyday, even if it wasn't going to charity, but if you are going to ask for such a bill, put it to good use.

The other side of the coin would be that Jim is a person who has his own voice and own opinions and he can use it any way he wants....so whatever.  As long as Jim doesn't start singing anti-Bush crap like every other artist in the world (as if that hasn't gotten old no matter if you like the guy or not), I'm cool with Jim doing his own thing I guess.

Here is an interesting question though for anyone here who is voting in a similar fashion to Jim.  What would you think if Jim was playing a benefit for McCain?

Up until this point Jim and the band have done a nice job of keeping their preferences anonymous, even if we had a pretty good idea from some of Jims banter on this tour. We're getting down to crunch time now though, and I'd be lying if I said I was surprised. Personal feelings for Obama aside (they arent quite warm and fuzzy), I hope this is just a dabbling at the intersection of music and politics and not a harbinger of Bono-ish things to come. That'd just about damn near break my heart.
Say friend, you got any more of that good sasparilla?

here we go. First off I would hope you understand I love MMJ and see Jim James as a musical genius and could honestly say a national treasure. I have seen them many times and own all their vinyl, multiple posters, clothing, etc. I just don't like to see someone fall into the politcal machine created from our ignorance in thinking two equally corrupt and fat cat parties can have a chance in hell fixing this country. If people don't get that-well that is why we will never have a third party that can really shake things up, break down the inefficient bureacracy and reduce the role of government in our lives.

Diatribe over. Of course I will not go to the show, even though I would pay $100 to see Jim play an acoustic set in an intimate setting. It is really a cliche for artists to support liberal candidates but if Jim truly feels that Obama can fix this country, god bless him. I just think he's wrong. I'd love to sit down with the guy and discuss it but that won't happen.

I just wish everyone would think outside the box instead of wallowing inside of it. I had a hope that such a visionary could share my beliefs but that is a fantasy world, much like voting for libeartarian Im afraid. Someone's got to have principles though! :-/

The fact that my hearts beating, is all the proof you need.

ycartrob

some of you guys aren't giving Jim a lot of credit for being able to make a conscious choice; I am just glad you are allowing him to play this show, it probably means a lot to him.

(seriously though, he needs to cut all this crap out and get back to playing my music for me and keep his opinions to himself)

Angry Ewok

I think it's great that they don't get into politics on tour, and I think it's great that he's raising a lot of money for a person or cause he believes in.
--- and that's 2 real 4 u.

I'm in. And friggin stoked.  To be honest,  I would have gone if it was for Mccain.  Just because I'm not voting for him doesn't mean I don't like the guy.  He served and sacraficed everything for our country. I look at it more like a donation to Jim James FLAGRANT BADASSERY !!!!!!

I think Jim James can do whatever the hell he wants to do.  Just like you can...just like I can.   ;)
