Holy CRAP!!

And it looks like quite a few of us are going to NYE, too!! We're freaking crazy!

How are you kids getting out there? Flying? Driving? Busing? Training?
Because if there's one thing that goes well with shooting zombies it's a Dolly Parton cover-el chode

ALady

I'm flying in Wednesday morning and out Thursday afternoon...very whirlwind   :)

How 'bout you, Salacious?

It looks like we'll be driving (or taking the train if prices go down).

We were stuck on a tarmac for several hours last year during the holidays, so my husband and I have sworn of airplanes for this time of year.

Did you post it here?  I seem to recall reading a scary NYE tarmac story recently...nearly scared me off flying into NY, but not quite   ;D

How long will your drive/train ride be?

I'm so friggin' pumped that I have a show on the calendar!  Now I can just sit back and dream about it.  The anticipation is the second best part!

I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

I just noticed that as of right now, in the SHOWS section of this forum, there is one Chicago thread and the other top 13 threads all have to do with NYE.  One of which is offering tickets and doesn't even mention which show because he probably assumes people are talking about NYE!!!!!!

Come on Chicago!   Screw those Yankees!   Forget about your Governer and his hair.   Forget about those darn Cubbies.   This is going to be epic.  First, celebrate with your family for the holidays and then we are gonna tear the roof off that M'FR and celebrate Jim's return to health, a new president and a new future where LOVE and PEACE and HARMONY reign supreme!

I can't wait for this date, taking my wife for our 17th anniv. this year and going to the show on the 27th , then hang around chicago for a nd city performance , then a show at the ford theatre.  Any suggestions on things to do in Chicago for a  1st time visitor. Can't contain my excitement for this show, took my 14yr Son to see them in KC this year and bothe of us were blown away, been Jones'n since that show for another Jacket concert. Look forward to meeting some fellow boarders, R center row KK on the 27th, best wishes and happy holidays !!!

BH, you crack me up   ;D

It's true, as ecstatic as I am about NYE, I can't help but feel a little smug that we get a DOUBLE-DOOZY NYE PREVIEW right here in Chicago!  I have some of my best buddies coming into to town for these shows, too - it's gonna be awesome, and we're gonna do it up right!

newjack, I live in the city - what kind of stuff are you interested in checking out while you're here?  Museums, shopping, restaurants?

just got my tix delivered today from stubhub. row A center. i cant wait. this will be my second time seeing them!

We are taking the Amtrak from KC to CHI town on the Southwest Chief. Never done this before and the price of tickets we're the same as drving plus paking, and everyone says no need for a car in chicago. I've got tickets to 2nd city on Sunday, would have loved to see the 2nd show but I think my wife would like a little variety, but I know once she sees Sat's show she'll understand what i've been saying. Also got tickets Monday for the Ford Theatre to see wicked. Will be staying at the Ambassador East on the gold coast, got a great rate for 4 nights, beyond that i'm open to suggestions. got to the think the town's buzzing with the Holidays and the election and coming inaguartion of Prez eelect. So I'm open to suggestions , affordable meals, thanks ...Newjack

ChiefCrowe and I will be rockin' my home town on the 27th. We had already booked flights to see them in NYC for NYE and are leaving on the 28th. (After last year's NYE performance, who could pass this up?)

newjack - make sure you see Millennium Park, walk the mag mile, Art Institute and get on one of those free trolley buses.

EAT some PIZZA!  8-) (Lou Malnati's is good!)
But seein you feels good, and its always understood.
That anything much sweeter would make me die.

The sky deck at the top of the sears tower is always cool if you have never been ,  it's awesome on a clear day.  The Museum of Science & Industry or Field Museum.   And what Jacketgal said, But I prefer Pizzeria Uno,   don't get me wrong.. Lou Malnati's is still awesome.

I'd skip the Sears and go to the Signature Lounge on the 96th floor of the Hancock; pretty much the same view, and the price of a drink is quite a bit cheaper than admission to the Skydeck   ;)

Something I like to do this time of year that's kind of touristy (but also pretty fun) is ice skating at the Millennium Park rink.  You can rent skates there for $5, I think.

There's a fantastic exhibit at the Oriental Institute at the University of Chicago regarding the rampant looting of Iraqi archaeological sites since the US invasion:

I have to say that I am mighty jealous of you double Chicago concert goers, but also happy that the shows were not cancelled for you all. You MUST give a recap on here as soon as you are recovered mentally and physically.

Sigh. Double the show. Double the chance of hearing your favorite songs.
