Y'all got any disco ball back there?

Salacious D

Tell me where and I'll be there!

I'm going to the concert solo so it would be great having some pre-drinks.  Just let me know where :)

Salacious D

^^I'll be solo on Thursday, too (my husband can only come to the Friday show).

I was looking at a couple of pubs (literally pubs--one Irish, one English) that are within walking distance of the theater--good beer selection and good (sounding, at least) food. . . question is, would I rather have treacle pudding or fish and chips before the show . . . ?

Hi Salacious, I'll be solo on Friday. When you mentioned Fish & Chips AND good beer, that sounded right up my alley! It would be fun to meet up. What place were you thinking about?

Salacious D

There's Elephant and Castle, which is about three hundred feet from the theatre (185 N Wabash Ave)

Here's their site:http://www.elephantcastle.com/content/locations/wabash_menu

There's also this:

I'm definitely in.  Either place sounds good to me.  I've been to Elephant and Castle a few times- its pretty good, they have sweet potato fries that pretty much rock and a good beer selection.  I will be going to the Friday show only so don't count me in on Thursday.

markcel

I am in.  I will be flying solo Thursday, as my wife did not understand the need to see 2 shows, so she's only going Friday.  I tried to explain, but she just didn't understand.   Oh well, at least I get two nights of musically heaven for my ears.

hippiern

It looks like Friday would work out best for a preparty.

Unless anyone can suggest a better place (I'm not super familiar with the area), I wouldn't mind checking out the "pub" I mentioned earlier.

Hey Salacious, I am down with Elephant and Castle. (I'm Jennifer, btw)
It's real close to the venue and that sounds perfect. I did some searching online and that place seems to have good food/beer and the reviews are decent.

Get well Jim, and let's all hope we can meet up on Friday. I'll check back in a bit later.

First and foremost, get well soon Jim.

My wife and I are flying in from the west coast tomorrow morning and was really looking forward to the last two nights in Chicago. Since we've already booked our flight and hotel, we'll make the most of it when we get in tomorrow and see what Chicago has to offer.

At least we were able to see them in San Diego. We were in the pit, stage left where Jim usually goes and it was simply amazing.

We'll see if we can swing by and share some MMJ stories to pass the time in what could have been...

My old man is flying in tomorrow as well for the shows.  We're just gonna make the best of it also.  There's plenty to do here and there's actually tons of other music here this weekend; a couple notable shows:

Broken Social Scene is playing the Vic tomorrow night and they're pretty awesome live.

Cold War Kids are playing on Sat at Metro

Plus tons of other shows; check out the shows page on Jambase at the following link:

Anyone up for a Chicago pre-party?

Either of these places would be great.  We did a Pearl Jam/Lollapalooza post-party/benefit at the Emerald Loop in '07 and it was a very nice space, although I don't think they quite knew what to make of us rowdy PJ fans   ;D

What night are you all thinking of for a meet up? Sunday will actually work better for me.

Hi Salacious!   :)

Either night works fine for me, but my friends are coming in from out of town for these, so I have dinner plans before both shows.  I'd be up for meeting up with folks for a pre- or post-show drink, though...

I would be up for meeting before/after either show.

blenderbaby

I know this is obvious to us Chicago'ans, but a word of warning to the sunnier climate flyers coming here.....DRESS UP WARM 8-)
A lie is not always a bad thing, as it must lead to a truth!

Salacious D

Hiya folks!! It looks like I'll most likely be at E&C before the shows *both* nights--so if you see a giddy-ass kid who's looking a bit like personified crack-rock, come say hi :)
