QuoteReporting from the balcony, the show was ridiculously great but the crowd, at times, left me disappointed.  I happened to be in one of the sections where people weren't even standing up.  I couldn't understand it.  How can you listen to these guys at all, much less rockin' it live, and not move your feet; bob your head, weave your shoulders?  Maybe it's just me.  I go insane at concerts.  It's tough to watch people sitting there like they're watching a movie.  I mean, I go more crazy when I'm sitting at home watching Okonokos.  Then to see people leave before the encore was ridiculous.

I grew up in the middle of nowhere, when good live music was around, we'd go crazy.  You could tell last night there were a good chunk of people that treated the show like their Saturday night warm up.  They were more concerned with the club they were going to after the show.  Sometimes Chicago shows crowds disappoint me in that regard.

Meh, maybe I was just jealous of those on the floor, closer to the action, getting their groove on.  That's ok though, I'm row AA tonight on Carl's side of the stage!  I expect a heavier night with even more intense rocking out from the band.  Can't wait.  See you all there.

Can I get an O is the One That is Real to follow Where to Begin?

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS!!  I was in the balcony as well and the crowd totally blew for the most part...I actually had some a-holes throwing sh*t at me for much of the night because I wanted to stand and shake my ass!! WTF!!???  Really??  It's a ROCK SHOW, YOU DON'T SIT DOWN AT ROCK SHOWS...that's just the way it works.  If you want to sit down to take a breather, no big deal, but to throw sh*t at someone at an MMJ show???  Unbelievable.  Rant aside, the show was ridiculous, Jim appears to be back in solid shape and the energy from the band was pretty unreal.  Thank god I'm on the floor tonight...looking forward to getting after it again!

Honestly, at least they were watching.  You people seem to think that those who go into near-epleptic fits during shows are the ones who are really into it and are behaving appropriately.

Really?

I direct my bile to some of those dickheads, such as one guy in the pit in front of me.  Was he getting his groove on?  Sure -- while he was actually there.  The sad thing is that he probably spent more time back at the bars getting beer than he did actually watching the show from the pit.  I was standing near the front and were there people standing up behind me?  Sure -- but they were spending time talking to each other during quieter musical moments and mock-singing the omnichord notes during Touch Me Pt. 2.

The people I just mentioned?  THOSE people are the assholes and losers.  They are the douchebags who need to get the fuck out of the venue.  It doesn't matter if you're standing up or moving to the music.  If you're spending more time at the bar or talking or mocking the music, then you should not be there.  There are others who are trying to enjoy the band.  And yeah, maybe some of those people are sitting.

The people who are sitting and enjoying the concerts are, to me, far FAR better than those who go to concerts and treat the band as though they are some lame cover act they paid $5 to see at the local speakeasy.

It's a tough one.  While I don't think it's unreasonable that people who have paid for seats should expect to be able to remain seated if that's their choice, I also understand that some people feel the need to stand, dance, whatever.  Just be considerate of those around you and maybe move to the side or an aisle if people keep objecting?

God sure baked a lot of fruitcake, baby.

There was this one dude in the front row thrashing real good in a Pearl Jam T-shirt.   Jim seemed to enjoy this quite a bit and played several guitar solos with his guitar right in front of the dude.  The dude was obviously in hogg heaven!

One good thing about music: when it hits you feel no pain.

If they're jamming and digging it inside their hearts and souls, that's all that matters.
