Emotional hangover...

I seriously have one today.  I know I should be basking in the afterglow of last night, but I had been looking forward to this show for so long and it was every bit as mind blowing and fun as I thought it would be, that I'm depressed now that it's all over...especially since 2009 sounds like it going to be pretty quiet on the jacket front!  :'( (Note: It is possible that excessive consumption of weed and alcohol consumed last night is contributing to this feeling).

AMightyCaporal

i feel ya.  I can't believe its gone.  The emotional high i was experiencing all of yesterday only makes todays melancholy deeper.
Oh I'll never say I knew you, but my heart can't wait to meet you on the other side

Im waiting for the "hangover" but it hasnt come, at least not yet. Even though this is the first time in about a year that I dont have an MMJ show to look forward to Im more than content with what I was able to do and see in 2008. "Content" is where Im at right now. Well, "content" and "Shit, I really dont want to go to work tomorrow"...
Say friend, you got any more of that good sasparilla?

EliDManheim

buck up, tickets are still available to the australia shows .... meet y'all in perth?

i wonder if they'll make up the canceled european dates.  reading jim's comments of late, sounds like he's exhausted, and wants some down time, so i wonder if europe will get bypassed.  amsterdam in march, however, would sure be swell ... i might be persuaded to take a hop on over there if it comes to pass ....

I'm with you on that.  At least it's Friday...

i still consider a trip to bonnaroo worth it if they're playing, no matter how sucky the 'roo is. so here's to hoping...

i am riding the fine line between an emotional hangover and being burnt out--2008 has been such an awesome year for MMJ shows--i'm sad it's over but excited that i was able to be a part of something so beautiful and unique. They were not only the highlight of my summer, my fall and now my NYE, through them I've met a ton of awesome people, and the forum has gotten me through a ton of boring days at work. MMJ has been such a positive force in my life that i can only be grateful because this is probably the closest i will ever come to religion :-)

oh Jrud--i'm w/ya. i did NOT want to come back to work today ;-(
but come on...there's nothing sexy about poop. Nothing.  -bbill

I think we will all feel a little better once the show is posted on archive.  The guy in front of the sound board had a massive set up.  I hope it is a good recording.  I keep checking for it

I woke up and checked archive.org.   Nothing.

One thing's for sure -- I would be a lot more blue if I hadn't been to show.

I hope that guy who recorded the show chimes in here so we can thank him.

I'm pretty sure this is the guy in front of me. He said he had a few other (non-MMJ, I think) shows to get up and he was doing all of them in order but he would get it as soon as he could. Quite a few people stopped and told him how awesome he was for recording. I thanked him and said he was making a lot of people happy. He and his girlfriend said they weren't on the boards and I said to stop by.

Once I got back to Boston from the show, I was busy uploading pics and reading stuff about the show, finally crashed at about nine last night, after not sleeping all night/day.

Woke, up this morning, and thought it's over!  Sad Face!  But what a freakin amazing year and an amazing NYE! Can't ask for more than that!

Now that it's 11:00 am, I have to start some work......

I'll echo pennylane's post:  2008 has been an incredible year.  I'm still basking in the afterglow of every wonderful memory MMJ has given me this year, and I'm grateful to have met such a great group of fellow fans to have shared New Year's Eve 2008 with!
God sure baked a lot of fruitcake, baby.

So are they going to take the year off besides the Aussie Shows?

I HOPE NOT!!!!

Sassbox

In a recent article, Jim said 2009 will be more of a "songwriting year", which some people are interpreting as less or no touring.

Do you think Jim could really go for months on end without performing since it's something he obviously loves doing? A songwriting year is great for the fans who want more music (woo!) but I can't see the rest of the year after the Aussie shows being without a performance here or there. Since I'm selfish, I hope it's more here than there.  ;)

They have to play at least some US shows in 2009.

evil horn

yeah, it's such a bittersweet feeling. had such a blast with them all year long. saw the opening show in Texas, so NYE was such a nice way to make it perfect.

I would be depressed, but I can't. I'm traveling to Chile to see Radiohead in March... having that on the horizon fills the hole of not having a next mmj show.

I'll be fine with a break...

Let's hope they release an EP, or Jim does more work with the Monsters of Folk thing to tide us over. They'll probably play Bonnaroo regardless of what they're up to, and I assume they'll do a few shows in the fall/winter of the year.
