One Big Holiday closing song

I fully agree- 2 totally different bands and I love them both for different reasons.  But in more of an apples to oranges sense  :).  I certainly don't desire MMJ to noodle more or change the style of their music. I both get and like Highly Suspicious.  If they played the same setlist for the next 20 years I would still see them live at every chance.  However there is no doubt in my mind that die hard MMJ fans welcome a setlist variety.  (Several on this site reported such changes very enthusiastically all last tour.)  Or at least changing up the last song - isn't that where this thread started  :).  I understand the OBH closer at this point- it works in the slot, it's very climactic, and many of the peeps at their shows are still first timers.  I just wouldn't mind a change up.   God knows I got tired of the Rainy Day Woman closer at Dylan shows.  And as for the intention of this thread I will offer both a fast song and a slow song that I would love to see them close with instead of OBH.  Fast: Remnants.  Slow- Where to Begin.  By the way I love the Ozzy Mug Shot- now we know where Carl got his hairstyle.  And for the record I am not a fan of Phish - not that there is anything wrong with that ;)

cmon guys- we have have different opinions- everyone compares bands- you either like a band more, less, or the same as another.

MMJ is on top for me, I can listen to some GD, and I cannot stand Phish... but thats my opinion- who cares... lets all just get along

Oh I'll never say I knew you, but my heart can't wait to meet you on the other side

Maybe there should be an 'Opposition/Argument Against Anything Anyone Else Thinks/Says' thread... I'm pretty sure I know who would be the most frequent poster.

I don't think that would ever work; sounds pretty stupid.

I disagree with anyone that disagrees with me, you, your friends, your neighbors, your friends' neighbors, my friends, my friends' neighbors, or anyone that has ever existed (I also disagree with those who are yet to exist, as well as their friends and neighbors).

I personally prefer "big" closers to mellower songs. I saw Radiohead a few weeks before MMJ and they closed with a mellow song. It didn't have the same impact.

Janet

How in the hell did I let this thread slip past me?  I needed a good laugh!

I'm ok with OBH where ever in the set it may show up - as long as it shows up.

And I kinda like that it's sort of like PJ's Yellow Ledbetter.  ;)

So, my yearly rant to all the GD/Phish fans longing for the 9 hour back-boneless noodle is over; get over it because it ain't gonna happen. I think that's one of the reasons they wrote Highly Suspicious, to try and bury the jam band tag and challenge people to get on board with their scene and not to re-create yet another "jam band scene". They saw the writing on the wall and smeared it with peanut butter pudding suprise. And I love 'em for it!
that's all I got.

Do you seriously think that they thought their scene was turning into something like Phish/GD's??!? Do you think it was??

I dont think there scene is close to it at all. All the jam bandies on jambase even seem to curse at uttering of MMJ is/was a jamband.

Seems to me mmj picks a closing song and kinda sticks with it.

Not the one thing. I used to think I
could at least some way put things right.

This noob is far too lazy to search "Tracy thinks MMJ scene is getting way too hip 2 B square" thread  [smiley=beer.gif]

ETA: Am I even still a noob? I mean, im sure you have all kinds of MMJ groupie wimmins scratching your sack for you everyday because youre the Squanto of the MMJ board, but just because my life got boring enough to want to start posting on a band message board on a regular basis a year or so ago doesnt mean I havent listened to MMJ for 6 years.
