So I've been working on the FAQ on wikipedia.  I am attempting to elicit help.  Some of the questions are yet unanswered.  Some of the answers could really use sources, which I can't quite put my finger on.  So help me and your favorite band out, peeps.  If ya don't know, anyone can edit wikipedia, even you.

Here's the page:

Someone recently added pictures to site, looks a lot better. Was that you, Ger?

Just spotted those as well, so NO, it wasn't me. 'All' I did a week or two ago, was adding a list of compilations (mostly those with an exclusive track). I did so after someone else added the Louisville is for Lovers comps (probably Mr. John "Louisville is for Lovers" King himself).

megisnotreal

checked it out the other day. lookin' good.

kudos for all the hard work.

It is coming along great, I just learned a thing or two.  I found this really interesting about the DRM on the Z CD.  It quotes MMJ's manager as stating the band was sending burned, unprotected copies to fans who complained.  What a fucking band!!!

I'm the guilty party responsible for the pics in the discography. I even uploaded pics for the covers of the Early Recordings albums, which I hadn't done before, so some new wiki eperience for me.

As for the FAQ section, you've done a great job with that, I just wonder if it shouldn't be further down on the page or elsewhere. I haven't seen any other band pages that have FAQ sections - maybe the FAQ should be its own wiki page?

I guess the FAQ could go after the discography but the other things on the page are the sources and the links which are always last.  I don't think it matters that other bands don't have FAQs, we don't have to follow precident, do we?  I don't think it needs a whole other page either. I'm bias of course but that's my opinion.

Good work on the pics. However, I think we do need a picture of the full band up there, not just Jim.

I'd like to work on all facets of the page but time is of the essence these days.  Maybe it'll be a summer project if no one gets to it before then.

dragonboy

Great work on the page guys  :)
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

Crispy

I agree that the page needs a pic of the the band instead of just Jim. Anybody have one that's their own work or fair use?

Well, somebody deleted the FAQ section (it wasn't me!), but they did leave a comment on the discussion page.

oh well, i guess wikipedia isn't willing to host our FAQ.  I know it wasn't great but it was a work in progress.  Well, that was a giant waste of time.

Kory

you could always make the FAQ from a free blog site... that would work. You could just have one main page that links to each question (or post)

Not a total waste, you can still retrieve it from the history and make it a blog, as kory suggested. There's some good info in there and some questions I'd still like to see answered.

It was worth a try.  :)

I wish we had a list of every single song they ever recorded (for anything), and a list of every single song they have ever played live.

In case you've never seen it, a list of every song the band ever released is already available for several years at my "From Nashville To Kentucky" site. Although it hasn't been updated for almost a year, it's quite up-to-date as it's mainly Okonokos that hasn't been added yet.

As for every song they recorded live, for now you could use my showfinder pages and draw a list yourself. However, although there's no real schedule for it, there are plans to expand those pages and come with more lists like Bermuda Hitchhiker made (see the shows and tapings sections of this forum).

Just follow the WWW button below to go to the site.

That list was actually the very first thing I used when I went from fan to super fan.  I stumbled accross your site and found it and the search began!  It was this where I first learned that a cover song from my old favorite band done by new favorite band was out there floating around somewhere.   I still have your list on a word doc. that I highlighted in different colors and I look at it all the time.

I'm still looking for that 2 meter session version of old sept blues!    Then I shall have them all.  <Insert sinister evil scientist laugh>
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

Yeah, I'm so glad Magnix came along.  He was really the ONLY one that archieved this stuff from the start.  We really need to pick it up.  Kory has really done a nice job.  Hey Kory, You want to start a website bro?

As you probably all have seen by now, I announced that I will no longer update the site with new releases (starting this year). I will however update the songlist with every release from 2006 and I will keep the information already there as correct as possible... However, I will not close the site AND the site can be continued with all of your input! If I get the information as detailed as possible, and I do not have to search for it all by myself, so that it only has to be added and uploaded, I can provide the webspace, and we keep one site with all the information. It can be a collaborative effort, instead of mainly me searching for most information and updating the site, if y'all know what I mean!?

The main reason that I was unable to keep the site as up-to-date as I used to, is time, which I do not have anymore since I have two kids. And it did cost a lot of time to find all those pieces of information. And to be honest, I have been a bit disappointed by the lack of input (thanks to those who DID contribute) throughout the years from people visiting the site ... It takes dedication to find this amount of information, I remember spending several hours, just browsing websites, comparing found information, just to find an accurate release date. It's not just copying some information found on one website. It needs to be compared with other websites, and most important with the releases themselves. Most information is there, because I bought about every single release that is listed. So, it also takes some money  :) One recent example. On various websites the Okonokos 4LP vinyl release was listed with a bonus side with four (4) tracks not on the CD. Comparing tracklists already made clear that that probably was not correct, if a tracklist could be found. Well, the only 100% guarantee of what is correct, is having both the actual 2CD and 4LP releases, and knowing that it's 'only' three (3) tracks ...

I'm not complaining here, I'm just trying to make clear how much dedication it takes. And it's a labour of love, you don't make money, it only costs ...

Anyhow, please know that I can offer the webspace and that I'm very interested in continuing the website as a collaborative effort!
