After 174 posts, I can't remember a single positive comment from fortbethel with regards to any subject.  That's just his thing.   So no worries.  

Luckily it was important enough to have it's own thread, instead of going in the setlist/reviews/stories thread like everyone else.  

I've contributed positivly in over half my posts. It's just that when a show is bad it feels like, 'taking the piss' you have to forwarn people

Only Yim Yames delivered. The rest of the band are just atmosphere. Bright Eyes likes releasing 2 new albums on the same day. That's all I know & want to. He's a crap stage presence

and the other one is actually really good- I thought It was cool to release two completely different records at once... maybe thats just me... and Ghosts.

Truth be told, I am worried that I will be bored to tears at this show, too.  :-[   I'm not an M. Ward fan.  Just don't get it.  Same with Oberst.

So, I know better than to expect an MMJ show.  I'm going in with hopeful expectations that hearing Ward and Oberst live will make things click for me.

I have the same worry.  I can totally see a lot of this show being a snoozefest and i'm bringing someone who really has no idea who M Ward and Conor are which is going to be rough.  

I look at the setlists and for one, way too many Conor songs for me...and you also have to take into consideration, as good as some of those songs are its not M Wards band playing them, its not MMJ....this tour happened pretty fast and i'm not sure how good some of those songs will be with people just jumping on and off stage, playing them in duo's or whatever.

I'm trying to have a positive outlook going into the show but for the $ the tickets cost I can totally understand what people are saying above about it not being so great.

Listen to one of the 2004 bootlegs.   If you don't like that, you won't like this.  Simple enough.  They do five or six MMJ songs, 5 or 6 Ward, and 5 or 6 Bright Eyes.

I was smoked out by a couple of very fine people with some very good smoke and I can still say THE GIG DID MY BALLS! I didn't feel any warmth except whin Jim did his thing. Hey when did everyone here say I HAD TO SUBSCRIBE 2 EVERYTHING ALT COUNTRY OUT THERE!? JIM & THE JACKET RULE! We'll BRAWL @ the nesxt JACKET TOUR! MOF is a sincere idea/project but it doesn't WORK! If this was in reference to my comment about Smokiin', that was directed towards Bold who expressed reservation about what the band would sound like doing MMJ covers.  I thought that the "band" sounded very good covering this song.

see this can't be so because those other musicians on stage are extremely talented and their music is equal to the caliber of yes, even some of jim james material.  perhaps in some cases better? GASP!?!

it's cool to praise jim and support mmj but not liking one of these shows and liking my morning jacket is almost hypocritical.

jim guests on a lot of the albums the material m and o-burst are playing this tour and those albums really blaze like a fat bodacious chunky boy.  in the realm these dudes are currently jamming the subtle things are important more than lights and seriously rocking the fuck out.  people need to get into the mindset these shows are mellow on purpose.  if they don't like the mellow side of music they shouldn't go to these shows.  what did you expect?  the only monsters of folk show I've heard was that one that's been out forever.  jim's set not only was full of quite a few unreleased tunes but pretty much all low key tunes as well.  one in the same, where to begin, etc.  even the collective set they did was chill with dylan and willie nelson covers.

this tour they have more songs they all play on, they are becoming more cohesive.  but they're a new band, shit takes time don't be such an insta-bitch about bringin the h8 round hur.  ya gonna get stomped son.

I'm wondering how someone with a beating heart can sit in beautiful theater and listen to ward and conor's powerful performance and only feel a cold, hard stone in the room. I was moved and blown away. ward's acoustic "poison cup" was amazing and so many other feelings that can't be explained in a list of adjectives.

come on! seriously. mogis is a secret weapon, will johnson has got to be the beating heart of MOF and ward, conor and jim are the voices and minds of MOF. the combination of all these talented gentlemen is so perfect, i could explode. they are a tailored suit. you can't say monsters of folk is a bad idea.

i'm just wondering how HOW you can so easily brush something off that's so beautiful.
