How was the VT girl, Grace Potter? Did she ever sit in?

And yes, hope this show ends up on archive.org

johnnYYac

Got to make this quick; heading to Mansifield for MMJ/Petty.

Didn't see tell-tale signs of tapers, and I've seen some Grace Potter recordings on bt.etree.org so she seems taper-friendly, too.  Let's hope I'm wrong.

Grace was hot, musically, vocally (unreal strength to her voice), and physically (not much leg though; long dress).  No cross-pollination between her and the Jacket.

Gotta go.  Later...

The night was Wonderful.  Great music and great people. Setlist was awesome.

QuoteJY - SO SO happy to got some variation in your setlists after your April road-trip.   That was such the exception.

Honest Man -are you kidding me!? Love that they are busting out randoms - can't wait for Holyoke.

Here's the poster- a real favorite:  (If you end up with an extra I know someone else who already wants one)

Holy crap that's the coolest poster ever!!!

AMightyCaporal

Circuital was fucking awesome!  I'm glad I held off listening to it before the show- just made it that much more spectacular...  Only shitty part of the show- dude next to us who caught a setlis, shoved it in his pockett- then stood around and got another one...  Didn't say anything to anyone but whispered to his wife/girlfriend I got two setlists!  Share the wealth yo!
Oh I'll never say I knew you, but my heart can't wait to meet you on the other side

touchingmept2

I agree. People should share the wealth. Especially if they've already caught picks, drumsticks or setlists.
The time is near, to come forward with whatever killed your spark.

You were in VT?  Its a shame we didn't hook up.  Great show, though!

awesome. fucking. weekend.

lil sis & i had decided to make it a full weekend trip to VT.  got home a few hrs ago & i wanted to post a few pics but i'm having technical difficulties.  and, i'm very sleepy so it's not gonna happen today...

but, i will tease  :P

if you were there - you know we got a kick ass show.  and for those that were not there - just check the setlist & then factor in how fucking awesome mmj are live... i needn't say more.  but... honest man!!!  seriously!!!!!  :D  holy shit, holy shit, holy shit!!! (i may have been saying this out loud @ the show & for anyone around me, i apol-O-gize)

met & hung w/ the famous johnnYYac; trish & bob (3rd show w/ the dynamic duo) & ericw in the lot.  hung w/ some "lurkers" in the beer garden & then joey & his bright green shirt were in front of me @ the rail.  good, fun people!

so yeah, show - there are no words...

post show awesomeness???   why yes, there was.  i got one of patrick's drumsticks!!!  it was tossed into the small gathering of stragglers & took a couple deflections before landing right at my feet  :)

shortly after that, carl's setlist was tossed out & via a smidge of crowd calamity as well as being helped along by air currents - it too landed,  AT MY FEET, just on the other side of the barrier fence thingie   :) :)  (double rainbow!)

but before anyone calls me greedy, i gave the setlist to lil sis.  honestly, i did debate for a few seconds on which to keep.  but, see, a few yrs ago @ another show (bloc party) i caught a drumstick, ala robert deniro in awakenings (i kid you not), so i figured that a 2nd drumstick can't just be a mere coincidence.  right???  it's gotta be a sign.  there's something about me & drumsticks.  i'm not sure what it means yet, but i am going with it for now, quite happliy.

so, yeah, i mentioned above that lil sis & i had decided to make a full weekend out of the trip & thanks to a tip from trish we decided to check out a street fair in burlington on sat.  first thing that caught my attention was this band playing under a tent in the park.  they were really jazzy.  new orleans style jazz.  not as big or elaborate as PHJB but, of similar style & they said they're from NOLA too so...  anyway, i took vid but it's really shaky plus i'm having technical difficulties uploading to my laptop so, not now.

then, we walked around a bit & came upon a mom & pop record store on one of the side streets which just so happened to have a kick ASS poster (artwork by clinton reno) in the window advertising the mmj show.  of course there was the "BE RIGHT BACK" index card taped to the door, so, we waited.  and... i am now the proud owner of said poster!!!  so, ok, from a collector's point of view it's crap.  one of the employees has written "with grace potter and the nocturnals" with a sharpie rather largely on this poster.  but the dude sold it to me for $7 & i'm not really a collector by any means so, i'm a happy camper.

(seriously, wtf is happening this weekend & i mean that in such a good way)

we ended the day with a trip to the lincoln inn in attempt to procure a few of the aforementioned pint glasses (see previous posts) for ourselves, trish & bob.  but alas, the bartender said she hadn't seen one in quite some time.  oh well.  perhaps it was pushing it to think that this too would fall into place.

as far as i'm concerned - the stars aligned for me more than i possibly could ever have imagined in my wildest dreams this weekend.  i knew i loved vermont before.  i "attended" freshman year of college up that way & it was a great year & without meaning to sound corny, i truly felt at home up there that year.  so when when this show was announced i didn't really need any convincing to make the trip up.  and now, reflecting on the spoils of my weekend, i'm thinking i should seriously consider moving up there  :-?

that is all.  goodnight!

QuoteI have been dying to hear Honest Man for years now! I hope they break it out again in Philly. Their setlists right now have been absolutely killer!I hope someone taped this show.

THAT'S MY THOUGHT EXACTLY!!!!! I saw it on tdb's facebook pics (the setlist one) and I can't believe they busted that out. My excitement for next week's show just multiplied 100x.

Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiite.
Cow temperature.

Rolling Back intro was SUCH a tease. Gawddamn!!!  Great show thru and through. New song and Carl's song (real nice surprise) were brilliant.

i have been in a daze since gates opened on friday. johnny, bob, trish, liz, eric, and anyone i may be forgetting (sorry!)... you guys are awesome. i feel bad that i wasn't able to spend more time with you all post show. i'll make up for that in nyc. also, sorry if i gave bad traffic advice... i've never seen 22a so crowded!

anyways...the show. it was epic. there was NOBODY there when gates opened and even during grace's set (which was awesome btw), there weren't many people there. i was on the rail with my buddy alex just to the right of jim's mic. that was my first time on the rail for any show, let alone mmj. the guys came out and jim started dancing with his guitar. i knew it would be a good night. the energy was awesome coming from the band. i love it when jim walks to edge of the stage and looks at the crowd with the biggest grin on his face. you could tell he was having so much fun up there. the setlist was great. mahgeetah was a rocker as usual. it took me about 10 seconds to realize what i was hearing when they started playing honest man. my reaction was super late and the people around me probly thought i was crazy. o well. honest man rocked so hard. i was also happy to see the band use literally all the time they were allotted. also, tuna, the security guard by us on the rail was a totally cool dude.

the burlington area is amazing. my friend and i went out saturday night and i didn't get to bed until the sun was almost ready to rise. it was a great time and i met so many awesome people. perfect way to spend my bday weekend! see you guys at the next one!

Ditto Joey!!!!!

Check out the photos under the other thread!!  What a nite, what a nite!

So, real quick as I am working between MMJ gigs this week, but what an amazing show!  Only second to RCMH for me, but seriously an Honest Man was not expected although hoping for a P double W, the Honesty will suffice.

Highlights were Grace, the location and vibes, band and fan energy, low attendance, heady medical strains, Steam, Honest and all the neat stuff like intro and outros.

The one lowlight...I was rocking out so hard to Gideon that I did some major damage to my left foot.  But, I stuck with it with no first aid whatsoever and stayed for the remainder of the show it was that good.  I wasn't about to yank my buddies out of the show just to babysit me.  So, on my way to the doctor for exam, wasn't going to pay emegency room rates.  But, I am thinking its a torn tendon (near my ankle, that extends to the toes) but not broken, we shall see.  Not that anyone cares, but I will keep you posted as I am dead set on attending Holyoke regardless of the injury.

I can't add much to all the rave reviews of this show. It was one I'll remember for a long, long, time! I enjoyed the venue and the small but rocking crowd! Only downer was the no tailgating, but at least the beer inside didn't cost an arm and a leg like most places.

I had a blast and it was great to meet so many wonderful people from this forum. Trish, Bob, JohnnYYac,Liz  and her sis, Joey Rogo and a few lurkers. As JohnnYYac said " these are some great people"! Looking forward to doing it again in Philly, T5, KFC, and hopefully NYE!

A very special thanks to Trish and Bob for the ride to and from the show.  8-) I hope I can return the favor one day. ( KFC maybe?) ;)

I have to add that I was proud to see my home state of New Jersey  so well represented at this show. 8-) Rock On!!
