On October 16, T Bone Burnett  will debut The Speaking Clock Revue at Boston's Wang Center. The show will feature performances by Elton John & Leon Russell, John Mellencamp, Elvis Costello, Gregg Allman, Ralph Stanley, Punch Brothers, Neko Case, Jeff Bridges, Karen Elson, and The Secret Sisters. The Speaking Clock Revue will then travel to New York City for a performance on October 20, with Jim James swapping in for Neko Case.

The model for this event is Bob Dylan's 1975 Rolling Thunder Revue, as Burnett explains, "The privacy and the intimacy of the studio afford artists the freedom to create, but something thrilling happens in getting away from the machines and into the live communication of real time storytelling in the larger community. The first tour I went on, my first job in show business, was on The Rolling Thunder Revue, and I've come back to that type of collaborative and extraordinarily rewarding experience from time to time. We are looking forward with great anticipation to getting The Speaking Clock Revue up and running this fall and continuing it in the years to come."

Tickets for both shows will go on sale September 27 at noon.

This sounds very, very cool. First, the T5 run. Then, news of the Ramble. Now this! Like I haven't spent enough money I don't have on concerts for that week. If I can score tickets to this for under $100 a pop, I'll have a hard time passing them up. Time to get a new credit card.

Anyone care to field a guess on ticket prices? Judging by the prices for the Elton/Leon show the night before, I'm guessing these puppies aren't going to be cheap...

ALady

According to this site it's at the Beacon, but it isn't listed on the Beacon site or Ticketmaster yet.

Interesting indeed. I imagine tix are gonna be quite pricey.

capt. scotty

This sounds expensive.

Quite honestly, I wouldnt be all that interested to see anyone besides Gregg Allman and the Punch Brothers anyway
The thing is, Bob, it's not that I'm lazy, it's that I just don't care. - Peter Gibbons

I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

Quoteepic rocket man?

That didn't even cross my mind ---- but now that it has -- holy shit. Elton will be in town for a show on the 19th, so I am now officially dreaming for some Rocket Man collaboration on Monday night. And what a sweet dream it is.

ralph

Also playing bridge school benefit, but without Jim...
At my house, we call them uh-ohs.

If we can't get an epic Rocket Man, how about an epic Man in Me collab. with The Dude?
