QuoteJust made it home.WOW!We had colonels and chickens, an extra long and best ever Mahgeeta,a riled up crowd, and the best live band on the planet onstage. The guys were tight and gave 110%.Jim kept thanking the LYSO and commending them on a job well done.I talked to one of the puppeteers before the show and ask her if they would be joining the band onstage like they did at Waterfront 08 and she said,"Maybe".Then I asked her if it would be during a OBH finale and again she said,"Maybe".Then she added the LYSO might also be onstage for the "possible" grand finale.HAHAHAHA! Nothing like getting the lowdown from a puppeteer before the show.I felt a little smug with my little secret as we went into  the arena. Before the encore Jim left the stage first, then one by one the guys put down their instruments and left the stage until finally there was no one but Patrick jamming out on the drums.Perfect!
My 12 yr old son was in awe.I loved looking over and seeing him rocking out in his ISM's bear shirt and panda ears.I really have the coolest MMJ lovin' kid ever. When I tucked him in he told me he wanted to rock out like that one day.LOL Now I can't wait to see his face when he sees his guitar on Christmas morning.Priceless night of sweet perfection.
Favorite moments were,Bermuda Hwy,Mahgeeta,Off The Record and Highly Suspicious.I saw a Librarian, two mushrooms,a Gumby,Osama Bin Laden,a robot,I even saw one girl dressed like a "hit of acid".My daughter was a pink panda but one guy called her a sheep which made for more laughter and an evening full of Baaaaaahs everytime she looked my way. ;D
I'm  anxious to see everyone's reviews and pics over the next couple of days and I truly wish you all could've been there.

This sounds so fantastic!! I cannot wait to bring my 8 year old daughter to her first show!! ;D

Nice, I took my twins to their first ever show when they were 6, it was the first year MMJ played Lolla. They loved it......

QuoteThe show was nothing short of amazing.  After making a mad dash once everyone was let upstairs (to get to the floor) I was the first on the floor and positioned myself right in front of jim.  I currently have no voice and necks a little sore.  And one more thing... there was an awful lot of professional filming going on...

Ooohh!!! possibilities abound!
Woo there we go!!!  :D

Apparently, someone is shooting a documentary about the band.  Someone told me it's being done by their first drummer who's now a filmmaker.  My wife works for the mayor in Louisville, and they taped an interview with him last week for the doc.  Sounds interesting for sure.

Yep, I heard the exact same thing. I have a friend who works at The Bard's Town restaurant, and the film crew/old drummer came in last Sunday night to eat. Exciting shit....

Sorry I'm extremely hung over but a few things that stick out:

They played the laylow jam backwards. Took a min to realize but it was mind blowing.

Penny said to me when dondante started... We won't get a 20 min version like last week.. But holy shit it was long and 100% different

The colonel sanders bit was hilarious

They had a whole bunch of balloons up in the ceiling of the arena that they released during OBH and when it happened the energy level increased exponentially on both ends.

Will write more later we I get home

Phone went west was out of this fucking world and that extra ending on Magheeta was as sick as it gets! What a fucking night, the heat was brought and then some!

what. a. night.

Damn! That was what I needed!  They hit my rock bone as Mr. Scott Carney would say.

Too bad they scratched Steam Engine, I would've loved to of heard it.  I ended up rocking out in the stands with Potsy and his crew most of the night.

Met some more forum folk.  It should go without saying at this point that they were good people.  Met a girl who travelled solo from Arkansas and didn't really know they're catalogue very well.  She was blown away!  How could you not be?

My highlights were Mahgeeta and Phone Went West.  And everything the LYO did!

Wax Fang's set was riddled with feedback unfortunately but they always bring it!

Closing with "The Phone Went West" was out of this world and a great surprise.  I couldn't stop grinning during that song.  It was also one of my highlights.

I really liked the band opening with "Wordless Chorus".  It was a great way to get the entire arena standing and singing.

I was surprised to hear "Librarian", and I cannot say it's one of my favourite songs, but still it was nice to hear.  I would have preferred "Steam Engine", but that's the only complaint that I have.

Actually, the other complaint I have is with the delay getting into the arena.  We were told the doors would open at 6:00 but we didn't get in until 6:45.  When we were getting our tickets scanned, the one ladies' scanner wasn't working causing more delays.  A special thank you to the woman who allowed my wife, a couple of others we met in line, and myself to cut in front of her to get our tickets scanned.

After getting into the arena, we had to wait another 20 minutes or so at the bottom of the stairs.  It was completely bizarre. There was a camera at the top as mentioned before, which does make one wonder.

Anyway, back to the positives.  Loved the black cats on the side of the stage.  They were a great treat.  The puppets were terrific as well.

The endings to "Magheeta" and "Dondante" were new.  My wife and I had heard the new ending to "Dondante" (rather the extra long jam) in Canandaigua, but last night's was different.  Actually, it wasn't even the ending.  After the chorus, the band changed the flow of the slow with a long, guitar-driven rift and concluding with Carl on the sax.  It was great.

We missed the balloons coming down because we were very close to the front.  I looked back after "OBH", and the balloons had already fallen. I would have loved to have seen that moment.  Anyone take a photo?

What an outstanding show.  It was the closest I've been to the band being right up front at the rail.  Non-stop energy.  Jim has some great rock moves dancing around the stage.  Like people have said the entire show was caught on professional video camera.  Photographer said it was for a documentary of everything leading up to this show.  I agree with others that Mahgeetah was absolutely mind-blowing.  Definitely the highlite for me and Phone Went West was great.  I'm definitely sore today, and my ears hurt.  Can't wait to see them again whenever that may be.

Fucking amazing night! Being 15 feet away from the band and looking back during OBH and seeing an entire arena filled with thousands of people jammin was surreal. No one was being still all night from what I can tell. PWW was my highlight. And Evelyn cause I've never seen it. I decided I was gonna film one song last night and I just chose randomly. It was Evelyn and it's a bad ass video. At one point they all
Froze like robots for a good 30 seconds. I'll up load later.  I didn't like that they played Librarian, but with LYO it was awesome. There was a kid playin stand up bass with hair that probably out does Patricks and he was  JAMMIN the whole time. Nothing about this show was less than incredible. Definitely a special night that I believe will be talked about with Roo and NYE shows.

I was like "second row" behind the rail. Jims side wearing a Bear costume. Did I meet any of you all?

Ohhh and my girlfriend and I got posters that are bad!! Limited edition out of 55 signed and numbered. I'll upload that too
don't rock bottom, just listen just slow down...

I also noticed the young man playing stand up bass.  He was great.  The young man has a great future in music ahead of him.

And my wife and I met you last night.  We were the Asian couple to the right.  We talked a bit with your friend (or was it a friend of a friend) dressed up as the mad scientist.

best phone went west ever.

what a night.  the atmosphere was unstoppable, the crowd was undeniable and the band was just firing on all cylinders.  you could really tell how much fun they were having and how proud they felt.  they put so much energy into every song.  it seems they rocked out hard on everything, even the slow songs.  carl seemed possessed, he was all over the place with windmills and guitar flourishes.  cicuital was everything i hoped it to be, backwards lay low, new magheeta, new new dondante, the list could go on and on.  it was nice meeting all the forum folks, cant wait till our next reunion.

i however did not need to see that setlist with steam engine on it

the kid bassist with the hair was AWESOME.

hows that hand holding up darkglow?
out go the lights it begins
