I believe they taped last night.   Anyone there?   I'm curious to see if they're doing the same setlist as last year or if they had new songs.   Also, if each still does some solo stuff and if so, what YY played.

Nothing reported on the forum of the MoF website, so we'll have to rely on media reports or a MMJ forum member to report.  I'm really surprised there's been very little said about this here.  Too much excitement about T5, I imagine.

thanks - just what I was looking for.   Even the airdate!

Thanks Cameron!   That's a great set.  They each axed one of their own MOF tracks and each added one of their own non-MOF songs including Will Johnson.
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

Monsters of Folk
"We wanted to make this show extra challenging." That is what Jim James of The Monsters of Folk told the crowd Saturday evening at ACL. However, the audience was really the one put through the struggle, at least for the first hour of the show.

The band is a super group of American folk singers comprised of Jones from My Morning Jacket, Conor Oberst and Mike Mogis from Bright Eyes, and M. Ward from She and Him. They stepped onstage at the Austin Ventures stage, which was unfortunately located between two of the bigger stages at ACL. And on those two stages were two of the loudest bands at the festival. And it was a problem. During most of the first hour, the band had to fight off the barrage of sounds that invaded their performance. Despite the band's best efforts, it was still a massive distraction.

It's too bad, too. The Monsters of Folk actually put together a great performance. They were dressed up in tuxedos and rolled through a mixed bag of songs. They played mostly from their collective self titled album but were not afraid to give each member some individual love, with songs from their original acts. In fact, Bright Eyes' song, "Soul Singer in a Session Band" has never sounded better than it did Saturday night. And for a moment, the unwanted din that surrounded the stage was totally washed away. They are a bona fide super group if there ever was one.

I know right? I'm not sure I've ever even heard a Conor sung version before.

Did a setlist from the ACL Fest ever show up anywhere?

Oh my God, if not, you've been missing out! This is a pretty good version, very emotional:

I love how he often changes lyrics around live, not so much in this one, but the ones he adds just makes it a little extra good :D
