Title: The Evil Urges album cover mystery solved
Post by: songdiver on May 17, 2010, 11:11 AM
for anybody still having a hard time figuring out what the hell the cover "means," I figured it out, but I can't say b/c it means something different to everyone, but pay closer attention to the dark figure/shadow that "appears" to many people to be looking toward the stage.  If you figure out what he's looking at then you can solve the code.  But what Code am I talking about?

Siriusly, they put secret codes in everything...the fun part is figuring them out and then you'll be in your own rock band...

Does it show that the Holy Grail is really the bloodline of Jesus and Mary Magdaline?

Have any of you guys seen the episode of South Park where the kids write an explicit, graphic and disgusting novel to be as gross as they can-- but when an 'adult' reads it, it becomes a global literary sensation? I am equating this thread to that episode because art (writing, poetry, music, photos, pictures, ect) is so subjective. I don't believe that there is a code in everything...seriously. Just as YouAre__GivenToFly said, No Code!

I'm not saying their is a specific code.  It's whatever you want it to be.  That was my point.  God, I've noticed the people who are still on this forum often are trying harder and harder to make fun of people who post anything on here.  I didn't specify anything specifically, did I?

It is subjective, that's why I didn't say exactly what it "is," so pay attention before you insult me.

I SAID IT MEANS SOMETHING DIFFERENT FOR EVERYBODY IN MY FUCKING POST YOU IDIOT.

So save the condescending attitude.  I haven't been on here for a while b/c I noticed a year ago that the only people on here still have no clue what the hell is going on in the world and either take things too seriously are not seriously enough, while the true MMJ fans are actually making things happen to better the world, so I just came on here one last time to post a bunch of positive messages (before I ran into some loser who thinks a southpark reference is a valid way to make an example) to try and wake up one last round of the herd b/f the revolution gets stronger, but from the reaction, many of you are dogmatically stuck in only one reality tunnel and don't have the ability to formulate anything that is not insulting on some level when someone tries to be happy or inspirational.  This is my last post on here.  Six years as a fan, and now it's time to start my own band and writing career.  Hope to see you guys at the shows, just don't bum me out.

Wake up

Bummer your leaving Songdiver.  You always brought some interesting concepts in your posts, often referring to a vague "revolution" that I never could quite grasp my mind around and I wished you would have fleshed out your ideas some more.  But before you spew general hate at the forum, look in the Columbus thread.  It sure as hell sounded like everyone had a good time.  The figurative jaded forum member exists in all walks of life, not just here.  Don't leave here hatin'.  Not everyone is quite as dumb as you just might believe.

I didn't insult you, I simply wrote my opinion. I read your post and fully understand what you stated and in no way was I trying to be insulting. I'm sorry you took it that way and maybe in the future you shouldn't read into everything on here as a direct insult, as it is hard to always truely convey the tone of what we are trying to type. If i was insulting you my post would have looked a lot like your last one did.

And for the record, South Park does a great job of putting a mirror in front of society and forcing us to look at ourselves and actions. If you can't laugh at what people say and do then I feel sorry for you. ;)

You should be permanently banned from this site and every future MMJ show based solely on that "logic" above.

I got it...so the code is that there is no code...thank you South Park for clearing that up.

Songdiver...any issue you have with someone else always stems from you. Take a nice long look in the broken mirror of life...you'll see that there are many fragmented points of view; they are all equal and important to the whole. Good luck with your music & writing and try not to let people's opinions hurt you so easily.

p.s. Thanks for getting my hopes up you dumb ass...I thought you were going to tell us who the shadow figure was.

p.p.s. Making fun of people is fun...especially when you make fun of your self...lighten up!

p.p.p.s. Tracy...you rock!

I just thought of something.... (that's right, dude, i got to thinking)
I've always thought that was Jim with his back facing us.  I think we debated a while ago that it could be him aged.  But what if the reason he is noticably "bulkier" is that he is wearing his cape?  That cape didn't start showing up until they were supporting EU, right?  I always took the cape as some kind of alter ego, not unlike Jim/Yim.  I don't know, just spitballing here.  Doesn't really answer any questions but I think it's certainly a possiblitly.  Anyone?

The guy on the Evil Urges cover must be our own Sticky Icky Green Stuff!

He gave it away when he posted the picture below, likely a cropped image taken by Patrick during the photo shoot.

Note the look of serene satisfaction on his face.  He must be gazing across the theater at the Jacket.

Note the use of a bright light to illuminate the boys in the balcony across the way, and how it creates the silouette effect from behind.

Note the one shoulder higher than the other, due to his holding the light.

Mystery solved.

Hey, I came back on to see info about the album shows, and saw that many people piled on me.  I was just trying to have some fun.  I am usually high and was thinking about the album cover...and I think MMJ does use symbolism in all of their art.  Sorry if you don't see the connections.  It's pretty weird to see so many people write posts on here just to say something negative about me, when you don't know anything about me.  I'm sure you'll add more south park grade humor and think you really got me good, but really...I think everyone on that thread lacks basic emotional skills.  I am actually a really kind person and I love MMJ and have for a while.  Their music actually means something to me and I find a lot of synchronicities between the music and my life and I think that is exciting.  Apparently you people don't live in that kind of life.

There is a revolution going on by the way.  You can see it in music especially.  If you can't see that, then you can ganging up on me inside of a internet forum (very brave).  I was the only one defending myself; there was no reason for more posts after I stopped.  To the people who posted shit about me...you are being pathetic.  There are signs in everything My Morning Jacket does.  The joke is on you for not seeing the impact the bands are trying to make on humanity with the music and words and frequencies they use to seduce the listeners.  I am thirty years old and take my life very serious.  I don't think it was kind for people to ridicule me like this when I didn't do anything that deserved it.  This was mob mentality.  I'm only one person, and if you actually listened to me you would start to see the sense.  I am finishing up a book by the way...about science and psychology...and I will come back on here to give you people a link to purchase it.  You won't buy it though because you don't want to educate yourself on the revolution and how I helped to cause it with magick.

Go have fun and be nice to people.  Oh, and stop calling other people names.  You have a problem with other people's behaviors...not them as humans...understand the difference folks... :)

Dissociative identity disorder

Dissociative identity disorder is a psychiatric diagnosis that describes a condition in which a person displays multiple distinct identities or personalities (known as alter egos or alters), each with its own pattern of perceiving and interacting with the environment. In the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems the name for this diagnosis is multiple personality disorder. In both systems of terminology, the diagnosis requires that at least two personalities routinely take control of the individual's behavior with an associated memory loss that goes beyond normal forgetfulness; in addition, symptoms cannot be the temporary effects of drug use or a general medical condition.

I thought Songdiver quit the forum.  Make up your mind.  I'm bummed no one commented on my clever suggestion that Sticky is the mystery man.  Now we're back to the Twilight Zone.

Sorry, I'm usually the nice one, and I have a good friend who "speaks" the way Songdiver does, about connections and revolution, but when words like "revolution" and "magick" and "symbolism" are used together, its time to change the channel.

I look forward to your book but hope you proofread the manuscript more than you do your posts.  Sorry I went out of character for a minute there.

Did you know that the name "Songdiver" comes from an ancient Native American deity...I believe he was thought to have the wisdom of a thousand sticks. I could be mistaken...

Songdiver...stop being such a sensitive baby and get over it...these are just WORDS...nothing else. If you really "think everyone on this thread lacks basic emotional skills" then you should check yourself before you wreck yourself. You need to stop taking your life so seriously. The fans on this forum are full of emotions...sweet Jesus...I need a hug!

Every couple of months there is a fan like you that takes everything personal and bitches about threads on here being too harsh...lighten up you panty wearing nose picker.

But no offense to those people out there who really wear panties and pick their noses...it's all good.

Siriusly, they put secret codes in everything...the fun part is figuring them out and then you'll be in your own rock band...

Firstly, thanks for bumping this classic thread. Secondly, the man is obviously James Gandolfini, with the guys paying tribute to their love for the Sopranos by superimposing a silhouette of their favorite anti-hero over a vague theme of old-timey theatres and amusement parks -- while obviously portraying the downfall of American democracy caused by the influence of deranged popular culture and organized crime; i.e., Jersey Boys. No secret code to it.
