Quote from: chk on Aug 12, 2019, 03:09 PMI didn't tape on saturday, forest hills makes it a PITA.  There should be 1-2 stealth audio/video jobs that  surface soon since a couple of those guys were at the show saturday.

The onstage mics are for picking up the crowd for live mixes, etc for the band's use, they have them at all the shows. Doesn't necessarily indicate a future live release but anything can happen and the band records multi-tracks of all shows i'm sure...

many thanks for the tape of the cap show!!! it sounds incredible.

i would love to echo Robb's words. What an absolute beast of a tape. Really stunned that there was no tapers allowed inside Forest Hills...bizarre...i wanted to hear Lay Low into Steam into Phone badly.

I specifically enjoy the usage of the word "tapes".

Many thanks to the tapers out there.  Have all 4 shows from the summer run, it's great to relive the NYC shows I went to.

Also, today's 4 years since MMJ at Red Rocks 2015, my first RR show.  Good times indeed!!
Cuz it's been so long since someone shattered me.

The Cap Theater recording is perhaps the best quality non-soundboard audience recording I have ever heard of a Jacket show.

Both Red Rocks are incredible too especially for a venue that is tricky for capturing quality audience recordings.

hard to say because this band has ALWAYS had fantastic tapes. There's a reason to this and it has more to do with the band than the tapers, no offense meant.

I've heard a cell phone video recorded of a Jacket show in January 2007 and the quality is abhorrent, SOMEHOW STILL YOU CAN HEAR THE SUBTLETIES OF BO'S PIANO, TOM's LEATHER-WHIP BASS AND EVERY NOTE OF JIM AND CARL'S SOARING GUITARS, including the effects they're using.
This band sounds on another level and the buck stops at RYAN PICKETT.
This man is a god and my appreciation for him only deepens.
So glad I had a chance to quickly say hi after the NYE show in 2017 and tell him how amazing he really is. Ryan's the man.
And all you tapers are brilliant because it's easy to ruin a great thing by over-complicating the issue. Instead, you just find some great mics, a great spot, hopefully a board hookup, but if not it really doesn't matter. Listen to the Mann Center 2012 soundboard and then listen to some other non soundboard tapes of the band and you'll realize the difference between a board recording and one from the audience can only be minimal (Bonnaroo 2008 is very different due to the weather issues many tapers in that crowd were having to resist to capture it all, and capture it one taper DID and his tape lived long in my life for a long time).

These 2019 tapes are fucking unreal.

We're still working our way through the beautiful collection of recordings provided by the wonderful folks who make this happen, but so far I am shocked at the quality and the power of their sound.  We were at Forrest Hills and all I can say is this band is on fire and we are looking forward to what the future brings.
