IT being "Information Technology".  In this day and age, that means anything that has wires, lights, and beeps.  Phones, faxes, computers, servers, firewalls, routers, monitors, security systems, cables, cell phones, portable projectors, anything internet related,  et al.

2 days a week, I am officially the "studio manager" for a photographer (friend) of mine and I do fun things like bill filing and supply ordering and music-being-played dictatorship.  ;)  It's fun though because we bring J's dog to work every day and she's a big gigantic newf, and we're in a community centre and where we are is all artists (so not unlike my previous job).  My other jobs are part-time admin/producer work for a couple of dance/theatre friends who make really lovely shows.  I also do freelance design (although, don't ask me how that started - i think it's because i'm cheap) and sometimes I work in a bingo hall.

I work for The Boys and Girls Clubs.  It's pretty awesome that a job like that exists.  I love it.  As one of my coworkers put it "We Get Payed To Play"  It's pretty rewarding there is alot of love involved.

i do outreach work (therapy) to folks with history of substance abuse and a few "troubled kids."  it is rewarding, but also a bit tiring on my already torched mind.  I bet most here have pretty cool jobs.  OK, who is the forum plumber?

I work for several music television channels in Canada, most famous and significant being MuchMusic. My job requires me to monitor all content for six music video channels, including video keys, commercials, programs (audio/visual levels etc...), live programming etc... I also have to "fix" problems as they occur and/or are relevant to the the daily broadcast signals.

I also ingest commercials and videos into huge computer servers.

i'm an architect - i work in a smallish office of 5 (4 other great people, who don't mind me being the office music-nazi). we design office fitouts, schools, bank refurbishments, retail fitouts.... pretty much anything you can think of (except hospitals and aged-care)

No no no!
You can always change. Reinvent yourself. Be who you want to be, knowing you might not want to be that in five years time. Training to be an electrician might be the best thing you ever do. Or it might not, and you can change.
Just my two penn'orth   :)

I have my own English School with about 40 students.

Yeah, you might want to browse around man,  Don't let anything tie your life down.  You have a right as a human being not to be forced to do electrical work your entire life.  ;)

SiouxTribe, I miss the paycheck of my college days where I too worked at a 5 star restaurant. I can remember pulling down over 25K one year just working 3-4 nights a week.
I also don't miss it... ;)

SiOuxTribe

I feel ya man!  This one isnt quite 5 star, its a small small restaurant holding about 17 tables, busy busy nights hitting up to maybe close to 70 covers and about 3 or 4 on the wait staff.  It is really good money on those nights and thats what I love about it!  But i do agree, if i left i wouldnt really miss it...that shit tears down on one psychologically.  I go fucking crazy when i work there.

i'm unemployed for the moment because the government in all its wisdom sees it fit to fingerprint me, photograph me, blood-test me, x-ray me, and ask me if i intend to engage in terrorism and/or prostitution before they give me a work permit. but it's coming soon... man, every time i didn't feel like going into work, now i miss it.
seriously folks, this immigration process has been a whip!

i have been a prima barista (that's "stuck-up latte maker") for canada's version of starbucks while i was in school

i was a production assistant and part-time researcher for a television production company

i was the audio-visual buyer for HMV music store

and in between i wrote a newspaper column for a women's mag for a while, wrote music reviews for a since defunct newspaper in dallas and tried to make use of the ultra-useful journalism/poli-sci BAs...
