Anyone out there ride a ped? I'm going to purchase my first on this weekend. Driving from Louisville to Detroit to pick it up. I think I'm obsessed.

I want a scooter, preferably a Vespa. I may get rid of my 2004 Mazda car and take transit, bike and scooter to get around (I already use transit - subway, streetcars, buses), but I'm getting more and more anti car.

I've got a Vespa GT200, but I don't ride it as much as I would like.  :(

I particularly enjoy overtaking cars at 70mph.  It seems to freak them out...

Do it!  I've got a 1980 Vespa 125PX with a Polini kit (=177 cc's!) with less than 1500 original miles on it.  I recommend putting a kit on your bike if for no other reason than cars can hear you coming more clearly (or simply riding at rally's with the comfortable company of many other riders enhancing your presence).  I don't drive it nearly often enough but that's because in my world I can easily operate in a 2-mile, streetcar/walking friendly, radius.  Tip: keep some babywipes in your glove compartment or backpack, they always come in handy.
