Grateful Chabo

If you met someone that was totally oblivious to the existence of my morning jacket and you could only show them one song, what would the song be?

- i would have to say steam engine okonokos version...beautiful and powerful
"Listen to the river sing sweet songs to rock my soul."

The DARK

From my experience, One Big Holiday (Conan) and Gideon (Letterman) are the best bets.
In another time, in another place, in another face

I played Golden for a friend and her husband one day and they said it was OK. ::)Their love for American Idol and Kenny Chesney should've tipped me off.
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection,
The lovers, the dreamers, and me.

if I knew how to post pictures on this forum, I would post one that was a hammer hitting a nail on the head.
God damn those shaky knees.

How loud can silence get?

BH

It doesn't matter as long as you make them listen to it outside and with headphones.  Preferably with a mountain, a forest, or a beach nearby.
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

Any up tempo song with most people. OBH, Gideon, EU. I would probably use live versions.
The fact that my heart's beating,
Is all the proof you need

easy way

QuoteIt would depend on the person

Yeah, that's right. The MMJ catalogue is diverse enough to rope in any unsuspecting soul. Choose wisely my friends...both with the song and the person.
;)

"the bear" was the song that did it for me, years ago. so i'd probably start there.

no question. the bear sealed the deal for me as well. we're all better people for having heard that song.

Sure would be a great question for the Q&A with the band...

...but nooo...nobody likes that idea.

I would love to know what Jim would play if he had just one shot...

It would have to be Steam Engine

AMightyCaporal

I agree- it would have to depend on the person.  Golden got me hooked though... but Okonokos really made me obsessed so- ya never know
Oh I'll never say I knew you, but my heart can't wait to meet you on the other side

buymycar

highly suspicious

considering how polarizing it has been on the forum, it would weed out the non-believers quickly.

Mahgeeta...it had me hooked from the very first listen.

I just heard it again tonight and you just can't help but like that song.
If you don't know for yourself, how could you ever know for me....

All within the scope of my personal influence have heard MMJ  ;D  I've found most are really receptive after hearing Okonokos - particularly Gideon and OBH.

My favorite response was from my sister, who does not typically listen to secular music -"Wow, what beautiful music!"  She then asked if I could get another ticket to the show this Friday at the Greek?

I was happy to oblige!

I"m surprised by the people don't "get " MMJ.  My husband, a long time dead head, explained it to me this way (an analogy he has often used with the Grateful Dead) "some people like black licorice, some don't".

I say - whatever.  Those people are stupid!  :P
