Evil Urges made the 16th spot.  Woot woot!

I can't remember exactly what the blurb said, but I do remember it sayin' something like this - "The most accomplished band in the last decade".

#1 - She and Him

God damn those shaky knees.

16 is kind of bullshit I think when you look at some of the albums ahead of it.

There's another pretty good reference in their about MMJ, I'll have to look that up and get back to you.

I think it's time ya'll gave She & Him another spin!
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

agreed. great album.
all facts begin as dreams dreamt by the wizard

The DARK

It took balls to put She and Him at #1. Evil Urges is alright at #16 if you consider what most magazines are gonna put it at for the sake of popularity.

Only complaint is TV on the Radio are #50.  >:(

Yes, She & Him is great and they thrive off M. Ward's genius, but I don't think the one spot suits them.

I love the She & Him album....def give it another spin.  There is really no other album like it out this year.  That being said its probably in my top 5 but i'm not sure about #1 but i'm not going to disagree with the decision.  I think they said it best in the magazine...M Ward is ubertalented.
Last Fair Deal Gone Down...

Ghostess on TV

Sigur Ros at #2... That's pretty cool.

Angry Ewok

What or whom or who is She & Him?
--- and that's 2 real 4 u.

Ive got an EVIL plan babe

Just cause it starts off slow babe, doesn't mean I  don't have evil urges.

Dear Science should have taken the #1 spot. And real emotional trash should be way higher.

Dear Science # 1 for sure! I'm sure it will make most top 5 lists though.
God damn those shaky knees.

ManNamedTruth

Is Dear Science better than Return To Cookie Mountain? I wasn't too into some of the noise on that album, I heard one of the new songs and liked the funkiness.
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

Penny Lane

She & Him ---okay but a little zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

The Verve, Elbow, DBT, Stephen Malkmus, MMJ ALL better than S&H
but come on...there's nothing sexy about poop. Nothing.  -bbill

I still don't like the name "She & Him" but I like the music.   I'll admit to having a crush on Zooey.    Her voice is stunning.   I don't have the album though... I listen to them on MySpace.   heh.

So EU is # 16... where did Z and ISM rank in their day?

DaFunkyPrecedent

i think for paste, Z was like 3 or 4...

that year Sufjan Steven's "Illinois" won their title.
God damn those shaky knees.

She & Him is a pretty nice album, but being "nice" doesn't warrant being in any Best Of chart. I don't think EU deserves to be higher than 16.

BH

What does "nice" mean?   What would your number one be this year?

I think mine would be Dr. Dog or possibly the Black Keys.   She & Him is definately in my top 10 maybe even top 5.

And as far as Evil Urges goes, let's look back at the top 10 in five years and see how that list looks shall we?

I agree with you last point. Some of EU currently drives me nuts (not live though).

The Keys or even The Hold Steady.

I like the music part of She & Him, but Zooey's voice is a little uninspiring for a full album.

bowl of soup

The Hold Steady in a landslide.
I'm not saying it's easy...walking into sweet oblivion.
