when i was a kid i had a recurring nightmare for, i think, about 2 weeks straight.  it was the same exact thing every single night:
i was playing by myself in the yard (which was pretty odd bc i was always tagging along w/ my older sisters) when all of a sudden, i saw fireballs in the sky and watched as they hit/exploded on my neighbor's house (their house & yard - everything looked exactly the same as it did in real life).  i was looking around trying to see where the fireballs were coming from when a giant octopus swam overhead, not close but too close for comfort (sea creatures have always just freaked me the hell out).  up until that point, i hadn't even realized that i was underwater, so that was a bit disturbing (since when did we live under water & how was i breathing w/out any kind of gear?  but still, i thought this was all really happening).  even more disturbing tho, was the fact that the giant octopus was a fire-breathing octopus!  it wrapped it's tentacles around the 2nd story of my neighbor's house, which was almost completely engulfed in flames at this point, & started spewing fire towards my house.  there were flames everywhere now, even the trees & plants in the yards were burning & i also saw tons of thick black smoke billowing up from where my other neighbor's house was (on the other side of the hemlock barrier btwn the 2 yards); the direction from which the octopus had come.  why was this monster was attacking my neighborhood?!  i was in a sheer panic at this point, trying like hell to shout warning to my neighbors but my voice was totally muffled by the roaring fire.  i realized i had to get to my family to warn them, but i just couldn't swim fast enough - the wind had kicked up something fierce (also odd, wind under water??? but still, i felt like it was actually happening) & i was really struggling against it.  finally i made it into the house & ran up to my parent's room where my mom was & just started screaming that a giant octopus was attacking the neighborhood & we had to get out right away.  but my mom didn't understand what i was saying & i kept repeating myself over & over but still she didn't know what i was saying & i just started sobbing.
and that's where i'd wake up.  and i'd be sobbing for real.

it was absolutely terrifying.

Glad that one's not recurring anymore!!!!!  That's like, every fear you might've had at that age, all wrapped into one dream!!!  Being by yourself, being underwater, angry & dangerous sea creature(s), housefires, not being able to reach your family, and not being understood by your family!

Man it makes you wonder..............

ya know, i never really thought about it that way.  i usually don't remember my dreams that vividly so i never really think too much about them.  it was always just "that recurring nightmare" but now you've said it - yeah - what the hell brought on all of that?! i was a really happy kid, i swear  ;D

Last night I dreamed that MMJ were playing in Dusseldorf, and kydiddle and I were making plans to go.  Our planning consisted of talking about pretzels and the fact that airfare to Germany was $200.

I think it's a Roll Call stress dream   :P ;D
if it falls apart or makes us millionaires

Hahahahhah that's a great dream, Lady!!!  ;D ;D

I just found a huge patch of Mugwort right outside my apartment, and I plan to make a mugwort tea tonight.... said to aid in lucid dreaming and/or dream memory..... I also picked a handful to dry and use for burning (like Sage).  Apparently the Cherokee population originally around this area used mugwort a lot for smudging, etc...

"Mugwort is said to be useful in inducing lucid dreaming and astral travel. Consumption of the plant or a tincture prior to sleeping is said to increase the intensity of dreams, the level of control, and to aid in the recall of dreams upon waking."

So here we goooooo!  ;)

Oh I just thought.... with celebrating Vesak today, I ought to throw in some mantra meditation to potentiate enlightening lucid dreams!  This could be interesting  ???   ???  I've been using mantra meditation to help me sleep pretty regularly these days, it's a big help in shutting down the monkey mind that likes to wander and keep me up......

Will report back soon!

Well nothing too noticeable with the mugwort tea... other than really vivid "pre-dreams," that woke me up maybe 3-4 times... just real strong visions that jarred me enough to wake up from.  But I did get to sleep pretty quickly with the mantra-- can't say I had any lucid dreams or even much memory of whatever dreams I actually had, but then again I didn't use a whole lot of the plant... I like to increase dosages slowly with things to get a feel for them....  :bath:  Maybe try again tonight!

Just woke up... (later than I hoped I would) but the last dream I was having when I woke up, was taking 3 of my friends to see MMJ, getting us front row..... then there was a LIVE GRIZZLY BEAR in between the front row and the stage   !!!   :o

Then all these people real far to the right of the stage were trying to touch it and bother it and I yelled at them and made some cheesy thing like WWJD (What Would Jim Do) and to my astonishment they all backed off!!!

Then the guys opened with On The Road Again hahaahahahhahaha and I was like "Terrific!! My Grateful Dead friends that are here are going to fall in love with them now!!!"  But I woke up while they were playing that, unfortunately....... hahahahhah oh and I tried to wait in line to get in the front for the opener too, but I was late, and it didn't work.  But then to my amazement THE ENTIRE CROWD cleared out after the opener, and I got right up to the stage with no problem!

And as I was walking from my car to the concert (when I was running late) I noticed that a house next door to the venue had lights on its roof that made owl-shaped patterns on the shingles!!  It was so sweet!!!

What an intense dream..... glad I have time to process all of it this morning!!  :D

Man I've just got music on the brain while I sleep lately....... I guess my last exciting event of yesterday was seeing that Iron & Wine are playing in Atlanta on 11-11-11, and last night I dreamt about the I&W / YY show at Stubbs!  But it was way too short, they only played 2-3 songs together (and none of them were Sam's songs!  :embarassed: )  But that's two nights of music in my dreams now, I wouldn't mind if that pattern continues!  One free show per night!  Though I'd hope they would last a bit longer...

I too have had a ton of music related dreams lately. Most of them end up being me at MMJ shows.  Two nights ago I dreamt that I was waiting in line for a show before the doors, and I was waiting with Yim, Carl, and Patrick. I wonder what show we were going to see... I like to think it was the PJ20 festival...

I've also dreamt that I was telling Carl over and over that my girlfriend has a cat named after him.

Which is true.

Well I had another dream about my friend who took her life a couple years ago.  It seemed like a long dream, though I can't remember all of what happened... I just remember hanging out and talking in a strange way, as if I weren't sure if she were alive in the dream or not... I remember at one point she was showing me a house that she once "lived in," though it's nothing like the houses I've known her to have lived in.... but there was a time when she (literally) ran away, and was missing for a few days or so.  I'm just wondering if she took me to that place in the dream....

Ah well, it was certainly interesting.....

Wow... strange looking at my last post and finding that almost exactly a year ago I dreamt about the same friend I dreamt about last night.  Dreamt that I saw her and we were going back to highschool?? And I drove her to her car (we had cars then, hey yeah!) And we parted when I left her off at her car... and I gave her two hugs, a kiss on her head, and said it was good to see her again. I may have said "I love you," too... or I might have just thought it at the time. A very touching dream......

Last night I dreamed I was in the front row at an MMJ show, imagine that! Except the band became Journey (with REO Speedwagon's singer joining in with Steve Perry for some goddamn reason) at some point, or maybe they were opening. Anyhow, we were all sitting in our seats, and they started playing "Stone In Love," and I started belting it out, LOUD. So loud that Kevin Cronin started glaring at me for showing him up.

Then Gary Coleman came out of the wings, but he was just a hand, that's right, a disembodied hand, though somehow I knew it was him. I also knew that he had died not long ago, and remarked that he was still pretty big for being only a hand because he weighed about 35 pounds.

Yes, I am insane.

Sounds like a typical MMJ withdrawal dream.  did you wake up with the sweats , chills, and shakes?
