Hey.  Wonder what the forum opinion is regarding Spin, Rolling Stone, and any other music-related magazines.  I have a subscription to RS and devour it.  What about Spin?  Any others worth looking into?

I'm still a fan of real, in-my-hand, magazines (usually stacked next to the toilet), so I haven't seen any online versions, except CR.

My current subs are:

Rolling Stone
Newsweek
Consumer Reports
Entertainment Weekly (sucks, did it for school fundraiser)
Science Teacher (yes, we have our own magazine)

I dont really read magazines, but I'll occasionally read Rolling Stone or Maxim when Im in the grocery store and have time to burn.

The ones I read are online rags now I guess...Discover, Scientific American, Wired, and ArsTechnica (though that's more of a blog I guess).

Musically, I read RS to get enraged at things, and Paste to try and feel hip. Though I feel like most music mags don't cater to my tastes, so I don't rely on them to hear new music because (that's what y'all are for)  it's either the new high-profile "indie" act, or some depressing, pretentious, slow-as-fuck, uninspiring, pseudo-electronic act from brooklyn that think they're too cool to be called hipsters.

I believe I used to EAT paste, back in the day.

I only buy magazines when I know there's a main article on someone I like (MMJ, PJ etc).

I do have a couple of really cool Seattle Backlash Fanzines from the late 80's/early 90's with some Soundgarden articles in them.

The only magazine I get is from Spin. I got a year for free for going to Bonnaroo 08 but they still keep sending it to me. I'll take it.

When I was a kid I would Beckett for my basketball cards.

I gave up on Rolling Stone a long time ago.  I got Paste for a couple years and Sports Illustrated for a couple but I don't get any now.  I have the internet.

I subscribe to Rolling Stone, but I find their political articles too emotional and not very funny and artist focus too mainstream nowadays.
Their politico writers try to be like H.S. Thompson and it doesn't work very well...I think I lost respect for the magazine when they rated the Black Eyed Peas as the number one reason to be excited about music.

Paste is hit or miss for me, and Spin is a total miss most of the time...good music lovers seem to be on their own, left without water in a desert of dried up magazines
