QuoteImportant Things with Demetri Martin airs at 10.30 eastern on comedy central tonight. His stand-up is good, hopefully the sketches aren't dumb.

I heard a lot of things from a lot of people about him, so when I saw 1 of his half hour stand ups was on Comedy Central last week, I watched it.

I didnt think he was all that funny.

I guess enough ppl must think he is though if hes getting his own show. Man, I miss the days of CC's best show ever - Chappelle's Show.

I'm not sure I "get" him either.  :-?
Maybe I just need to give him some more time.

His observations and delivery remind me of Mitch Hedberg.  Tonight's episode was decent, its hard to judge by the first episode as they usually get better. It was good to see Jon Benjamin from Home Movies (voice of Coach McGuirk and Jason etc...) as the director in one of the sketches.
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

Now Mitch Hedberg I get. I guess I need to give DM some more time.
Because we're all in this together...

Now that you mention it, there are a few Hedberg-ish qualities. I wouldnt say its his delivery though, I think its more his joke type (short and to the point) and nature of the jokes typically. From what I saw, its like hes trying to get a laugh instead knowing his stuff is funny.

I love Hedberg, but I just didnt think Martin was funny. Ill probably give him another chance at some point, or check the show out, but even then he seems average at best.

DM is alright, but nowhere near Mitch Hedberg's level of genious.

I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

Utter brilliance.

I don't know. I thought Norm was kinda funny with bad material. His personality often covers his shortcomings. What do you expect? He is from Ottawa afterall.

Wow Joaquin is officially the new Crispin.

I am still holding out that the Joaquin thing is just an act.

It's an act!

It's an act.

It's an act?  :-/

yeah, I'm thinking act, too, but given what happened to his brother, who's to say for sure.  I want to hear his rap.

I saw a video a while back. Let's just say I won't be buying the CD & we'll leave it at that  ;)

Like  KY said, real shame...
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

So I didnt check out the Letterman from yesterday until now, but even with his carpet breakdown and saying hes done, then the leaked rap from a club, this is still surprising.

Heres a clip since whoever posted it yesterday, youtube removed that clip

"Wha do you have them on?!? Wha do you gas them up with?? Is there Nitrous kickin around in this joint?!??"

;D ;D ;D

Considering his tone was similar during that red carpet surprise a few months back, I dont think this is a joke. I think he's seriously drugging it up and has enough money at this point that his movie career is a 2nd thought if he doesnt want to keep doing it.

Him putting the gum under Letterman's desk was fruggin great too  8-)

He stoned out of his mind if he thinks he can make it as a rapper, but he's fucked up out of his mind regardless on whatever drugs.

The beard only makes it more obvious this isnt a stunt/joke.

Why, because his hair wouldn't actually grow if he were acting?  Don't understand your logic.

I think it's an act because he's acting like he doesn't know how a talk show works.  This isn't the first time he's been interviewed on TV.  Maybe he actually is going crazy but if so you'd think his friends would try to get him help, not make appearances for him and fire up the camcorder.  He should either be called out for being a phony or institutionalized.  If he is that distraught, he needs help.

You might be onto something. My logic with the beard was just that it would go along with someone addicted and in his apparent mindstate

Theres a handful or so of people who swear by The Wire.

Its definitely my favorite TV drama - and I didnt think anything would beat The Sopranos before I started watching it - and IMO the most well done TV ever.

Im jealous you get to watch it for the first time
