Thanks for that K!

Anyone seen Homocide Life On The Street? My sister bought me David Simon's book for Christmas. I want to buy the DVDs but they aren't cheap...
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

I only remember catching the occasional Homicide episode when it was still on TV, it was good from what I remember

If its expensive, why not join Netflix if you already arent a member and just watch it that way??

Netflix international!   Let's do it, db!  We'll make millions!   *inserting pinky in corner of mouth*
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

this show migh be good toohttp://www.hbo.com/events/eastbounddown/

I only saw a couple Summer Heights High, but liked it a good bit...I dont think theyre airing new ones still, are they??

That new show East Bound & Down looks like it could be real good. That dude was pretty funny in Pineapple Express and Ive seen enough Ferrell stuff to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Having seen a couple of episodes of the US Office last year I dcided to buy Seasons 1, 2 & 3 last year when they were dirt cheap (black friday)

The pilot was difficult to watch because the storyline/script is very similar to the UK version, which I love dearly but a few episodes in I grew to like it OK. Not bad, maybe quite good even, if you haven't seen the original.

i'm a few episodes deep in season five and the entire series is yet to give me one good laugh (i was gasping for air during most of the bbc office episodes).  it's alright, though.

ALady

The UK version was perfection.  I don't know why the US has to co-opt everything.
if it falls apart or makes us millionaires

I'm with you K. I have yet to laugh at the US version. I've tried. Everytime I've watched it's an episode that people say "OH that's not one of their best". Bah, I'll stick with Ricky's

BH

I haven't seen the original (I know, I know, I will someday soon) but I love the US version.

Hey dragonboy, I think the UK Office belongs in the same category of excellence, comedy-wise, as Fawlty Towers, Father Ted, League of Gentlemen, WKRP in Cincinnati, SCTV, 1970's SNL, MASH, All in The Family and Black Adder (to name a few), but the US version of the Office is excellent, as long as you skip Season I - especially the first 3-4 episodes, which are near verbatim redos of the UK Office.

Trust me, the US Office will grow on you. I never thought I'd like it, but I indeed can't miss an episode.

Jaimoe

Reminder: Battlestar Galactica's first of the final 10 episodes resumes tonight. I can't wait!

That's quite a list there. No Barney Miller? ;)

Cheers, Taxi, Not the Nine O'Clock News, Seinfeld, The Young Ones, Rising Damp, Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em, Spaced and the UK version of Little Britain.

I never really go into Red Dwarf, but I do respect Absolutely Fabulous and Yes, Minister.

What, no Only Fools & Horses on the list?!!

Haha just kidding! I know it's horribly cheesy but I love David Jason!
Just bought all 7 seasons of Only Fools...should arrive any day now with Somers Town DVD.

Yeah the US Office is growing on me. I just wish I'd skipped Season 1 & started with Season 2.

I'm enjoying a little known BBC comedy called Snuff Box right. Fans of The Mighty Boosh will know the 2 main characters from the first season. Matt Berry was also in the excellent Garth Marenghi's Darkplace.

I've never seen Only Fools Have Horses. I've heard that The Royle Family is terrific too.

I'm also a fan of Bottom.

Regardless, I think the US Office after Season I is the best US non-animated sitcom (and by best non-animated I don't mean The Simpsons since it hasn't been good in 10 years).

Better than Seinfeld? That's just silly talk  ;)

I wouldn't recommend Only Fools & Horses. I grew up with it & I think that's why I still like it but it's very dated & horribly cheesy, like I said.

The Royale Family is great! Avoid the latest Christmas Special, terrible compared to the the earlier stuff.
Ricky Tomlinson is great, have you seen Mike Bassett: England Manager? (the movie, not the TV show that followed)
