@Jaimoe & ManNamedTruth - yeah I hear what you're saying.   I'm still trying to figure out why in season three when they're in the big file building and a huge UFO takes off while little grey's run around Scully, Scully never tells Mulder there were TONS of Aliens running around.  It's like wtf Scully? those are ALIENS!

So the Killing is worth it?  I've been waiting for that and Game of Thrones to be done for the season then I'll just watch them all at once.  getting into shows is too stressful when everything is a cliffhanger these days.  too hard to keep up with everything.

Yes, The Killing is worth your time. All the plot threads are intriguing as is the overall story. It's shot in BC, so it has a rainy dark feel similar to X-Files and Supernatural (and now Fringe).

haven't seen supernatural.  Fringe is alright.  most of the episodes are good but lately there have been some kinda lame ones.  the concepts are still sweet.  I just wish pacey wasn't a lead role.   supernatural is about to get downloaded.  how many seasons are there?

Supernatural is in its 6th season whereas Fringe just finished Season III. I'd pick the latter since it'll be easier to catch up for the start of next season. But if you have the time, Supernatural is well worth watching. It's one of my favourite shows on the tube, including the HBO, FX, Showtime stuff (and PBS, CBC). Season 6 started off uneven, but man, it's been on fire for the second half of the season. Part of the reason why Fringe and Supernatural are so fun is that they don't care about ratings, which allows for creative freedom; high rated shows generally conform at some point. Not these two.

Six (it has a few more new episodes left for the 6th season). You'll find some similarities to the X-Files, but certainly not copycat stories. It's monsters, demons and Satan vs two brothers (and Jim Beaver, who was Ellsworth on Deadwood), but sometimes the boys fight with angels (some are fucking assholes). The casting is fantastic. So is the writing.

I'll check it for sure.  on a side note, do they even make movies anymore?  it seems like its been awhile since the last big motion picture.  inception seems like the last "big thing".  it's a shame its devolved into these superhero movies every summer instead of stuff like the matrix or lord of the rings.

I hear Thor is great. It was directed by Kenneth Branagh. I can't wait for Jon Favreau's Cowboys and Aliens too.

You'll find that Supernatural has better and more creative episodes per season than almost all horror and fantasy films in the threatres. It's astonishing in fact.

I was thinking the same thing. I was home last weekend, and the only thing that even remotely interested me was Thor (which ive heard mixed reviews on, basically your average superhero movie). Everything else was a romantic comedy, some other type of chick flick, or a kids movie.

As Jaimoe mentioned, Cowboys & Aliens looks pretty cool and I do want to see that, but I read through a summer movie list a few weeks ago, and this summer looks weak as hell. Plus all the big movies are reduxes like Transhitformers 3 and Pirates of the Caribbean 7. It wouldnt surprise me if hollywood fucked up Hangover 2 even.

I'm loving it too lil sis 8)  Nothing gets me going like high fantasy settings with drama that puts to shame any day time soap. There's so much T&A that cinemax could devote a whole channel to the series.

I've actually been reading the book in conjunction with the show.  Kind of a weird way to do it but it's been fun.

Next up for these networks, 40 terrible reality shows >:( Actually, "terrible reality show" is kind of redundant

My cancel vote goes to Desperate Housewives.

Stargate Universe was also cancelled (two lls ain't a typo where I'm from). It actually had little to do with the other two SG shows; it was more BSG in nature, which is a good thing.

I believe Smallville was wrapping up anyway, but it gets the "cancelled" label nonetheless.

Most of all, Im glad Parenthood didnt get cancelled. I really only watch violent (or violent dramas) and comedic shows for the most part, so the fact that a family drama has become 1 of my favorite shows should speak wonders to anyone who hasnt seent it. Check it out, its a great show that really displays family how it is, and unlike any show Ive ever seen.

Also glad Raising Hope didnt get cancelled.Surprised Shit My Dad Says for cancelled, thought it was pretty funny what I saw of it.

I thought The Cape was solid thru the 6-7 episodes I saw, but it would be difficult to keep a series like that afloat more than a couple seasons, and it wasnt so great where Im disappointed its gone - especially since it seems like a comic book/superhero type movie is being released every few months.

Thank the powers that be they put Mr. Sunshine out of its misery...tried watching one or two times following Modern Family and it was painful.

Also I cannot believe NBC cancelled Perfect Couples and replaced it with the Paul Riser show which was cancelled after 2 episodes (pitiful). Sure PC was formulaic but I found the characters delightful and quite funny, if they gave it more time I bet it would have been a decent and certainly watchable show.

yeah Stargate Universe had potential but they must not have had the budget to pull it off.  a lot of the episodes drag on, in the first couple seasons the way they ended each episode with some emo song was kinda lame.  overall tho, that show could have really gone places it just never did.  The dude who played Rush was pretty awesome over.  Elly was annoying tho.

it seems like they are canceling all the alien shows.  I just finished the first season of the "The Event" which was indeed painful to get thru but still, when you watch 20episodes of something you expect a pay off or conclusion, even if they cancel it.  well fine cancel it, but have the aliens invade first.  Same with "V" they ran that shit a couple seasons right up until it was almost time for a bad ass alien invasion.  but they pussed out.  I think hollywood is starting to realize if an alien race ever did come to earth we'd be vaporized, which makes for some tough writing if you ask me.
