It's snowing.   >:(

I'm also home sick, but that's not really a complaint 'cause I'm missing work.   ;)

Haha, it was 26 degrees here today & I was in shorts & a t-shirt!

(hope you're not feeling too sick)
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

Bad timing too.  We started state mandated testing today and so being absent is really frowned upon, plus my kids hate it when I'm absent.  But I went for the first half hour to pep them up and let them know that I believe in them.  The principal's giving the test right now.  I hope they do well.

CATs.  I think it's called something different in every state.  It's the "big test" that determines how much money our school receives and how much professional freedom us teachers are allowed. I have problems with this form of assessment but it's obviously important for me and the school (wish I could put the kids on that list but sometimes they get lost in the shuffle when the government gets involved).

i don't think i'm going to make it in tomorrow either.  i'm pretty sure I have bronchitis AND the stomach flu.  :(

At least you don't have to deal with the 4th grade writing test.  My teacher friend (who teaches 4th grade..duh) says it's the worst test ever.  Worse than the CATs.

...actually, do you have to deal with those?

we don't have writing tests.  we have portfolios.  4th grade teachers definitely have it worst when it comes to anyone k-12.  we have portfolios on 3rd but i only have to turn in four of them and they don't count on our accountability index.  4th graders in our state have to test in reading, science, math, and all students turn in portfolios.

Portfolio.  What an awful word.

They used the CATS in Nebraska (or at least used to when I lived and very briefly taught there). Almost the same tests in IL called the ISATS.

Hope you feel better.

yes indeed. gives me horrible flashbacks of highschool and the worthless KERA testing they did back then. our class was the first at our school to actually do the portfolios and they sucked something fierce.

My kindergardener's art teacher was arrested today for soliciting sex with a 14 year old over the internet.   It was a Dateline style sting with a special task force.  Dammit!  What the fuck is wrong with people! >:(

We see it on the 5 o'clock news and my daughter just turns to my wife and looks at her like, "What's going on?"
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

Oh my god!!!
How awful.
It's so important to have confidence in the people dealing with our precious ones.

My friend's mom just found out that she has breast cancer. Fortunately, they caught it pretty early...

My turn signal is broken.  The lights come on and everything, but they stay on.  I have to manually turn them on and off and on and off and on and off.  I crack myself up every time I turn so I guess there's some good coming out of it.  Everybody needs a little laughter in their life.  Sho' nuff.
So soon after payday, know it seemed a shame!

The really cute but apparently dumb girl at the desk in the audio/video labs at school booked my studio time for yesterday morning instead of this morning like I had asked.  She even told me Wednesday morning when I set the appointment.  Luckily tomorrow morning was still open so I can still start/finish my project before Friday.

Also, Portfolio.

A piece of one of my back teeth fell out last night in class.  That's probably bad but it'll have to wait a couple weeks until I finish up this semester.
