It's like mom and dad getting divorced. As I said on FB, I'm glad I got to see them the times I did including on the steps of the Arch. This will be the end of SY sadly.

Three day science teacher convention = drunk nerd party and lots of free pens

Occuring during teacher workdays = no substitute teachers to hire = save district $$$

Told I couldn't go to day 1 of 3 due to district-wide vertical team planning (K-12 scope and sequence)... fair enough.

Now, vert. team plans scrapped, so...

Still can't go.  WTF!!!  No reason, we save money, boo hiss, idiots.

Rant over.
The fact that my heart's beating is all the proof you need.

To add insult to injury, not being able to go today, I drove down to Hartford tonight... in blizzard conditions!  Fucking snow in October!  Unreal.  Added an hour to the drive.

Get used to crazy weather patterns. It's only going to get more unpredictable from now on.

Let's just say that if it snowed in July in India and the temp reached 100F in February in Toronto, I wouldn't be overly shocked, not now anyway.

Hawkeye

Found our little 5 month old kitten had passed away last night.  We had him for only a week.  We found out one day after having him that he had some particularly deadly virus, supposedly a virulent strain of the calici virus.  We thought he just had a cold at first, but after a few days he quit eating, and we knew there was little hope for the poor little guy.  We got him from the local Humane Society...his name was Waylon, and we would call him Mr. Waylon Jennings.  He was a good cat.  I just hope we made his last few days a little better.
We could.

Sorry to hear that hawkeye.  I have no doubts Waylon's last week was better than anything he would have had at the shelter...

Sorry, Hawkeye.  Been there, recently.

I blew the rear bike tire on my way to work tonight in one of the only sketchy areas in the downtown. I had to walk with my bike the rest of the way (Toronto is one of NA's bike-thieving capitals). One a brighter note, the weather is still great for biking. Normally it would be too cold, but today it was around 17C and I didn't need a jacket!

Waiting for the power to be restored...10" before Halloween sucked. 5 days and counting...
