Carter aint got shit on Fleury

BOOYAKASHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And before you yinz come back with the lucky factor, Staal had nearly an identical wide open net in the 1st period, and ended up shooting it right into Biron's foot, which just happened to be there. At least Fleury made the save.

I still haven't seen a playoff game. I was working on Weds night, and I was at the Phils last night.

You seriously went to a meaningless early season Phillies game over watching an NHL playoff game?!

Wow, Id be embarrassed to say that.

The first-round match-ups this year are great. I'm loving the Bruins-Habs and Blackhawks-Flames series. I can't watch Detroit though. They are booooring.

Haha. Rags up 2-0 on Washington and are going to NY for 2. Fan-fuckin-tastic. How's 80% of people's Eastern Conf Champs pick looking now?!

This is only helping Malkin's chances for the Hart Trophy IMO. Whats going on right now cant not be in the mind of a voter.

Plus they're a terrible matchup for a team like Columbus who depends on low scoring games.

I thought going in CHI/CAL would be the best, so far so good. PIT/PHI has been good too. Havent seen any of the BOS/MON series really.

Henrik...Henrik...Henrik!!!

King Henrick was just epic today.

Ovie was clearly frustrated and it hurt his game. The MSG crowd is gonna be all over that if he lays another dud on Monday night.

Props to all the usual boys and a little extra to Cally and Avery. I don't care that the rangers got outshot like whoa, they looked good enough for me. Here's to some more excitement tonight. :)

Boston played a lousy game the other night and still won, but it was a nasty affair. Lucic is my favourite player in the league. He's a throwback Bruin all the way.

ill def be watching the game that is about to start in a few minutes since Detroit is well on their way to going up 2-0. I enjoy watching Boston play.

I wish they were airing the CHI/CAL game here though.  >:(

Hopefully theyll at least give those look-ins during intermission

The Calgary-Chicago game is on TSN (they are producing this series).

capt. scotty

Ugh, I cant watch this Boston game anymore. That series is as much of a mismatch as DET/CLB

Time to hunt the interwebs for a Hawks/Flames link

It isn't a mismatch. Montreal dominated game one, but lost. Don Cherry on tonight's HNIC broadcast said after the game that Montreal will "smoke" his Bruins in game three.

Fucking Toews is playing awesome for the Hawks.

capt. scotty

Like I said, didnt see Game 1, but I dont see that series getting past 5 games. So the B's are Cherry's team?! I figured it wouldve been some canadian team.

The Hawks/Flames game was good. I typically think Toews is 1 of the most overrated players in the league, but he was the difference in the game tonight.

Calgary is tough as shit at home though so that series is far from over.

Toews isn't overrated. He's barely 20 and had 69 points this year, and he was playing hurt during stretches of this past regular season.

Cherry cheering for the Bruins is a nobrainer. You do know who he coached in the 70s? Don loves the Leafs, Bruins and then all the teams with the most Canadians of their rosters. So, in this playoffs, he loves Philly, Anaheim, Chicago, Calgary and Carolina (plus he likes St. Louis). He likes San Jose too, but I think he's secretly pulling for the Ducks since they are a bunch of tough mofos.

So what are Sid and Malkin? Im pretty sure theyre 21 and 22, respectively. And Toews turns 21 April 29th, so he certainly isnt "barely 20". Him and Crosby will be the same age once the conference quarterfinals end, and Im guessing both will still be playing.

I realize he's young, but he finished 41st in the NHL in points, and 3rd on his team. Granted, Martin Havlat is a good player, but the way people rave about Toews, you'd expect him to at least lead his team in points or be within a couple points of Mr. Peanut Brittle.

He's a good player who will get better, but everytime I hear Toews this or Hawks that, I look at what he did this year, and its not as good as announcers/analysts make it out to be.

The Hawks have a handful of talented offensive players, a few very underrated D-Men in Duncan Keith, Cam Barker, and Brent Seabrook alongside Brian Campbell, and Khabibulin and Huet might be the best combo of any team in the league. Toews is good, but he's hardly the main reason CHI is where theyre at right now.

He is a big reason why they won game 2 though.

Having a 19/20 year-old as your team captain speaks volumes about Toews' character. He's also made his linemates better players fairly quickly. I don't think he's the best player on the Hawks, yet. Sharpe is their best player and Havlat (I hate to say it) is right behind him, at least offensively. But Toews is a different, more rounded player than he was last year. He's developed enough this year that he will probably make Team Canada's Olympic team, which is no small feat, especially given who he is competing against for his position.

And Toews isn't the same kind of player as either Malkin or Crosby. He's from the NCAA and those players often develop slower given the amount of games the NCAA teams play and the level of play itself. It's impressive that he jumped to the NHL after only two years in the NCAA. Not many players from the NCAA make an immediate impact in the NHL, let alone star. Heatley is one, but Drury was a late bloomer and Kariya has never lived up to his potential. Kane came from the OHL, but who would you rather build your team around?

Chicago is a great young team. Toews is part of why they are where they are now, but he's not the reason. The coaching staff and management have done a great job in drafting and rebuilding this team. They are solid lines 1-4 and they can play any style. I'll cheer for them to win the West if they beat the Flames.

Embarrassed? Are you kidding me? Harry Kalas died and it was our first home game back, I would hardy consider that meaningless. Maybe in your town you people don't give a shit about baseball because it hasn't been relevant in 30 years.

BTW Claude Giroux owned your whole team today.

Forgot about the Kalas part. I'll give you a break because of that. And some people still give a shit about baseball here, but most havent for 15 years, not 30.

Giroux had a great game. Im surprised he didnt have more points this season honestly. It was terrible defense on the shorthanded goal though, that pass never shouldve made it Gagne. It was huge for you to score first, and even moreso to build a 2 goal lead. That shorty probably changed the game. If you dont get it and we get a PP goal, its tied 3-3.

Our D didnt play good, and Fleury played even worse. I dont blame him on Carter's goal too much because Gonchar screened him (that 1's on Gonch), but all the others were stoppable. You had to have 10 scoring chances as good or better than our best one, and you scored a lot of them.

Im confident Fleury will come back strong. Game 4 should be a doozie.

Im guessing Mike Richards is feeling good right now too because Im pretty sure Pierre Maguire gave him a blowjob after the game.
