That's much better then the trips I took with my parents. I think the most exotic place we went was Marshalltown Iowa. Seriously.

Your little bro looks so happy to be in Rome.

Funny you say that.  Actually he wasn't all that thrilled.  For one, he had been there about 8 times already by this point...he lives over there...so he was playing tour guide for all this stuff he's already seen 7-8 times.  Plus his sleep schedule was thrown off by our visit, so he was a little crabby/tired.

But also, none of us are pictures smilers...my mom excluded.  Which is funny, at least in my case, because I have people tell me that I'm always smiling.  It's not that I'm trying to look tough in the pictures or anything, I just have to be really laughing or smiling or my smile looks fake and I hate it.

We took probably 2500 (at least) combined pics over there but my mom has most of them.  If I ever get them I'm sure there will be a few more worth putting up.

It was an awesome trip!  The most fun night that I had was in Salzburg, Austria.  They just seem to LOVE Americans there...especially the ladies! ;)  But we found this cool little Irish pub.  REally good band playing, just a 3 piece, the singer played a really cool white Gretsch and the bass player was playing an upright bass.  Played everything from surf-rock to Beach Boys to Springsteen to Willie Nelson to Johnny Cash, along with a few Euro songs I didn't recognize.  I'll never forget hearing the girls literally freak out when he started playing Johnny Cash...They're screaming "Oh my god, Yonny Cash, Yonny Cash!  Americano!  Yonny Cash!"  Like they were at a Beatles concert or something.  Plus there was a bachelor party there...the groom-to-be was WAAAY too drunk, always entertaining.  Girls were running around collecting guys' underwear tags for some scavenger hunt,  And I ran into 3 people in that one bar  halfway across the world who had lived or gone to school in Iowa.  Crazy.  Fun night.
We could.

Speedo?

Nice pics, Hawk.  My people are from Lucca in Tuscany and I hope to visit one day.  Apparently a small village near Lucca is lousy with my greatgrandfather's family- the Iacopucci clan.

Always interesting when you go to some "place to be" spot in Europe but have the best time in a lesser-known or out of the way scene.  My wife and I did Paris and Belgium on our 10th anniversary, but our best time was in Mechelen and Antwerp, Belgium.  Paris was awesome, but...

How was the airfare?
The fact that my heart's beating is all the proof you need.

Hey TEO...he's an electrician, so he's up and down ladders ALL day.  I can tell you for sure, it's not his diet!  That guy eats more potato chips than anyone I've ever seen.  Probably at least 2 large bags a week by himself.  And Chips Ahoy cookies and Snickers.  And he smokes.  I need to harp on him to quit again.  He smoked for 25 years, from like 16-41, then quit for around 5 years until his grandma died, and it's been on and off since then.  That's been about 10 years ago now since he started back up.

Anyway, I think it's mostly genes with some physical work thrown in.

He's 52.  He used to have quite the beard, but I can only picture him with the stache now.  He does occasionally do the goatee thing.

I wish I had his height, that's for sure.  I'm a little shy of 6'0" and he's 6'3" or so...

P.S. - I never thought I would post so much about my dad on here.  Makes me want to start a "Dad" thread...like "Tell us about your Dad" or "What music does your Dad listen to?"
We could.

We are the same age then. My DAD was a Banker. Worked his way up from teller to president in 42 years without a degree. Half day sick! He could walk to work and was one of the most loved bosses there. At his retirement no one threw him a party, he threw all of him employees one. He was real good with me when I was young, we drifted during my teens (gee, I wonder why  ;)) but really started to try to make more of a connection toward the end and always kicked himself about the drift. I continually told him to drop it and Be Here Now. He was a good man, and a respected community leader.

p.s. maybe I should start climbing my 8 ft. as part of my fitness routine... ;)

QuoteSo the talk about travelin (and my own general constant daydreaming) has nudged me toward sharin a couple prized moments on my own sojourn...

Here's from the top of Lembert Dome, out in ye olde Yosemite... I ditched my pack long before I realized there were more than 3 false "summits" :-X

And here's to being a woodnymph (taken in the Old Growth redwood forest just north of Eureka CA)....... in awe..... just moments before I danced around like a headcase...

*That is the back of my green MMJ owl shirt, which I wore for at least 36 hours consecutively, as it's become one of my most comfy shirts.. I do recommend the shirt for anyone who may have been pondering a purchase, it's not a real heavy cotton, like some that nearly scratch yr skin off... it's soft as down 8-)

Now where is this pic of SBB in full banana get-up!?@! :o

nice pics woodnymph....Humboldt is my old stomping ground, Humboldt State grad!  And now I currently live just a hop and a skip away from Yosemite...although I'm closer to Sequoia Nat'l Park.  Come see the giant Sequoias when you get a chance.  Amazing stuff.

Haldon

so, I went out to Colorado last weekend with my girfriend.  I've never been "up north" in autumn, so I was really excited to see some of the leaves change.  And the aspen trees did not disappoint.  Here are some pics I took

Here are some picitures of Aspen Trees that I took. I found them to be sooo beautiful

chillin by a river

We spent our time in the vail/aspen area, and it really was beautiful

jones

Nice shots, especially of the Aspens.  The contrast in those shots is really neat.  Further proof that Colorado is just plain awesome.

BH

Wow.   I need a vacation like that one.
