Blown away by the Backwoods Bastard and St Bernardus Xmas. So fucking numb and feeling good right now.

Man, I almost bought a bottle of that St. Bernardus a few weeks ago when my weekly email from my spot said they got it. I passed though because it was $21 for a bottle. I usually cap it off in the $14-15 range.

Funny I stumbled in here today though as I was planning on heading over their today to get a few brews for the game tonight. Might have to bite the bullet and get one if they still have it (which they probably dont).

I know pumpkin season has passed, but a few weeks ago I had Southern Tier's Pumpking and it was easily the best pumpkin beer I have ever had.... I've only had 5 or so different pumpkin beers because they aren't really my thang but damn that one was good. Tasted like pumpkin pie crust or something.

I was able to track this down as well late/past pumpkin season as a bar around here still had it on tap. I did like it a lot, and it tasted totally different than any other pumpkin beer Ive ever had, much more straightforward in your face pumpkin taste. I like the pumpkin pie crust comparison  ;D

I give it a lot of credit for being a totally different pumpkin and not relying on the spices like most do, but I think the DFH Punkin is still my favorite.

At last!

http://www.nme.com/news/hanson/60704

At first take, I thought this meant some brewery paid them to call a beer "mmmHop", but it sounds like they are going to make it themselves in the Hanson family basement.

I wondering if they realize they actually have to well, have equipment and ingredients and stuff to brew beer, and likely more than they can make it in their basement to appease the Hanson nation masses.

Well damn, thats nice...It probably has something to with the fact that 90% or so of retail beer is purchased in PA is at a distributor/in a 24pack. Finding a place that sells good micro singles are few and far between, especially outside of the city which I am by about 15-20min.

That said, Im surprised there is that big of a price difference.  :o

This doesn't affect beer prices fortunately. It does explain the high price of liquor & wine, though. Its an example of just one of the many goofy tax laws that still gets enforced in the great state of PA. Pretty fucking ridiculous that this tax still exists.

Not sure where outside of the city you are, but Pinocchios in Media has a seriously awesome bottleshop.

EDIT: I went on the assumption that you're outside of Philly. Apologies if that's not the case  ;D Brain not functioning at highest level today
The wind blew me back, via Chicago, in the middle of the night.

Had Moose Drool at my local pub. First glass was decent, but I was sick of it by the end of the second.  :-\

Actually the dirty bastard is by founders, I noticed today. Just assumed it was stone from the name. Still haven't tried it.

Dirty Bastard is good. Reminded me of Skull Splitter but not as sweet and a little bit hopier.

Redpatoka sea:  you a New Englanda?  I see you have a Magic Hat  glass there...

Currently drinking this master piece though I think all their stuff is tippety top notch:

Sittin' here with me and mine.  All wrapped up in a bottle of wine.

I am a huge fan of Unibroue. Everything I've had of theirs is outstanding which is about a dozen or so different brews and counting.

And I think his glass is a Dogfish Head glass.

RedPatokaSea

^Yep...though it's a borrowed photo from the interwebs, not mine.

I'm from NC...living in San Francisco. Lagunitas is an amazing brewery close by (Petaluma, CA) that's making it's way across the country. I think it may be available in the NE now. Soooo gooood!

Fin du monde is excellent as well. :-)

StaggerLee

Heres a winner.  Kinda tough to find but worth it for sure.

I've only had this Quebec strong beer a few times, but not in about 10 years. I might have to re-invest and pick up a six-pack.
