I'm usually not a big fan of Sam Adams but I saw their new seasonal, Alpine Spring and I'm tempted to try it.  Anyone try it yet?

I tried it.  It was nothing special.  A beer I would drink if someone handed it to me but nothing that I would seek out or be excited about.

Didn't know they still made Shaefer. Wow, I haven't had that crap since I think about 1990.

I prefered this fine 'french' beer back in my college days  :P:

Natty Light was also very much affordable as well...

;D ...  Wow, that brought back all sorts of nasty flashbacks.  We would buy Goebel in beer balls in college.  Awful, but cheap and in good supply back then.

For those not on Facebook. This is in my top 5. Just spectacular. Thick, dark, STRONG, evil, delicious

I have a bottle showing up at my house this weekend and am extremely excited to try it next week.

Also, I'm going to be in Florida over the weekend and am looking forward to sampling some cigar city beers, I've only had one of their beers prior and thought it was fantastic.

Jealous on the Cigar City...

I wish I had time to read through 60 pages to see if it's been mentioned already (I should think so) but here's my favorite:

But since we don't have that in Michigan, I settle for:

I also wouldn't turn my nose up at Magic Hat Circus Boy or Magic Hat #9.
We understand it's the '90s.

On Saturday, I had this wonderful new collaborative imperial porter brewed with Satsuma peels and dry hopped...Stone and NOLA....tasty, tasty, tasty, hoppy, hoppy, hoppy...

The release party was held at the Avenue Pub, which is on the parade route, so everything was served in plastic that day.

Sticky Icky Green Stuff

so I've been trying to be cool like you guys and drink fancy beers lately.  have no idea what to even go after.  perhaps with some advance and encouragement you all can turn me into as much of a beer snob as I am a weed snob.

sticky icky's beer progression:

PBR->Molson Ice->Blue Moon/Magic Hat #9->Sam Adams Boston Lager/Sam Adams Winter Collection,etc->now I'm just aimlessly trying different beers.

Dogfish Head - 90minute is the bomb but impossible to find around here.  I dig their Indian Brown Ale a lot too.

trying this Sierra Nevada Torpedo right now, it's okay, sorta tastes like pine needles tho.   give me some suggestions, that dogfish head was on point.  thought their chicory ale was a let down tho.   I hear Bells is the bomb shit and that's a michigan brew.  enlighten me.

Sticky Icky Green Stuff

come on pussies give me some delicious selections that will make me feel like a man.

Thanks! I brew that amongst others for a living.  Posted on the same day Ruckus got his hands on it too.  Good stuff!

Yo Sticky!  There's a million great beers out there.  A good way to start is check out a couple of different beers within each of the major styles to find what you like.  My tastes always change.  You were talking about Bell's being local and all.  We don't get that in MD but I grabbed some of their Two Hearted and Best Brown this past weekend in VA.  Though Two Hearted gets all the love as an IPA, I actually dug the Best Brown much more.  After some time away from nut brown(ish) beers, it was great to come back to this beauty.  Think boozy, nutty, black coffee.

I see that Michigan gets Heavy Seas, my favorite local brewery.  Check out their Loose Cannon (IPA), Small Craft Warning (Uber Pils), and everything else.  Some hometown bias for sure.  I've been enjoying all things Great Divide lately and I'll agree with the above that the BBC Bourbon Barrel Stout is mighty tasty.  I was just grateful that it wasn't overly sweet or viscous and actually was refreshing as well.

Yeah, Sticky, totally depends on what you're in the "mood" for.  You've already discovered two of my favorites in Magic Hat #9 and Dogfish Head 90 Minute.  TEO is en pointe recommending Hopslam.  Did you like #9?  If so, I assume you've had Red Stripe.  They're not exactly the same, but I taste a bit of a fruitiness in both of them that I really like if you're in the mood for a lighter beer.

So you're in Michigan, right?  If you ever make it to Wisconsin, make sure to check out New Glarus Brewery.  Their Golden Ale and Belgian Red are amazing...so is the Coffee Stout...heck I like 'em all but I'm a bit biased (I'm from the area, I applied to work there, they were my first "love" after Sam Adams, etc...basically they introduced me to really good beer beyond Sam).

Hmm, what else.  I really like La Binchoise Grande Reserve, but that is hard as hell to find.  Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald is really good.  I had Founders' Dirty Bastard lately and liked it.
We could.

Two Hearted is by far Bell's best offering in my humble opinion but you are right about Best Brown.  That's some good shit for a change up every once in a while.  And Hawkeye, I dig that Dogfish Indian Brown Ale as well.  Sierra Nevada Topedo is OK, but my favorite brew of theirs is Celebration and its not really all that close.

We get Heavy Seas here in Ohio and I have had the Loose Cannon and while it was quite good, I still will take Two Hearted over that.  But, that's my local bias coming through...  :P
