One I was overdue for:  "The Adventures of Baron Von Munchausen"  I really like Terry Gilliam and don't know why it took me so long to get this one--Robin Williams as the king of the moon was priceless!

Just got "The Illusionist" from Netflix!
Sittin' here with me and mine.  All wrapped up in a bottle of wine.

God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

Last Tango In Paris, disturbing.

For sure.  Makes you think twice before putting the butter on your toast in the morning.
The trouble with the straight and the narrow is it's so thin, I keep sliding off to the side

Saw 'Half Nelson' last night with Ryan Gosling.

Loved it

Edgy stuff with good dialogue, plot and performances, good soundtrack too

Waiting for Zodiac to come out next month...

The Departed - best movie I've seen in a long time. Brilliant!

I went to two screenings over the weekend at the Hot Docs Festival in Toronto, North America's largest documentary film festival.

The first film was "Let's All Hate Toronto" - a satirical examination on why all Canadians living outside of Toronto hate Toronto. It's pretty funny and it more or less proves what we all know about Toronto. Fuck you Calgary and Vancouver.

Last night I saw "Manufacturing Dissent" - a film that strips away some of the mystique and credibility of famed filmmaker Michael Moore. It's a good film and makes some strong points. You'll all be able to see it I'm sure in the near future.

For Your Consideration.

I thought it was hilarious!  the wifey didn't like it so much.

I loved it, although IMO it's Guest's weakest work.  Gervais steals scenes as usual.

Seen Disturbia tonight.  Sure, the concepts been done way too much, it was predictable, but I loved it!  Probably due to my absolute adoration for Shia LaBeouf.  Next to Seth Rogen, he's my favourite young actor.

Could've helped that it was the first time I've taken a girl to the movies in a year or two.

Baran - my third movie by Iranian director Majid Majidi. A truly beautiful, heartbreaking film...

Ditto! I love how they throw the part with the rat in right before the credits.

DB how much  humor do Americans miss in SoD by not being British?
EDIT: Saw a preview for another movie with Simon Pegg called Run Fatboy Run last night looked great.

Hmm...good question but a difficult one to answer. UK pub culture is certainly very definitely from the US bar/drinking scene so I guess that maybe some of the 'in-jokes' there might be lost? Maybe just the 'feel' of it?
Quite a few of the characters/cameos have parts in other UK TV shows/comedies. Did you notice Tim from the UK office?
