QuoteFinished the first season on twin peaks and I am enthralled, my wife is even more so than me!  Looking forward to the second season and then the movie. I think I'll have to wait for the second season to come in the post though.

didn't you get the gold box with both seasons? i thought the pilot wasn't on the original season 1 set. also i think you hit up the wrong thread ;)

oh shit. you're right! Yeah, I'm working my way through the box set, but I rented it and the first disc of the second season is fucked.  so i'm waiting on netflix now.

fucking forum cops!  ;)

Oh your renting, that makes sense now. I was surprised to read that they left the pilot off of the original DVD release, its pivotal to the start of the season. The Gold Box Edition is great if you have 90 bucks laying around.
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

I recently saw Domino and Dead Ringers. I wasn't too crazy about Domino but it had its moments. The best parts were the Tom Waits cameo (completely unexpected that, even after hearing a few of his tunes during the movie) and the Keira Knightley nude scene.  :-* I know Tom's done some acting before but haven't seen anything else he's in.
Dead Ringers was really good, thanks Jamoie. Next on the to watch list are The Dead Zone, A History of Violence, The Assassination of Jesse James....., and The Deer Hunter.

Actually, the gold box is the only way I think you can see the pilot in the US. If I remember, they only released Season 1 sans the pilot originally (again in the US). The Gold Box of Joy is the best route.

They released the pilot separately. yeah, I tried to rent it and the duder told me I could get the ten disc box set for the same price.  can't beat wild and wooley video!

My wife said she doesn't like Westerns so I showed her the Unforgiven.

Also just bought High Plains Drifter, Outlaw Josey Wales, The Wild Bunch & Kelly's Heroes on DVD + should get American Gangster, Jesse James & The Lives Of Others in the post hopefully today or tomorrow.
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

Funnily enough UNCUT had a good article on Dylan (the recording of Nashville Skyline & John Wesley and the birth of 'country rock' etc) a month or so back & that reminded me of Pat Garret & Billy The Kid. It's in my shopping cart along with 20+ Clint Eastwood/Lee Marvin/James Coburn/Steve McQueen/Gene Hackman classics from the 60s & 70s so I'll get round to it buying it/watching it again eventually.

It actually is a great movie. I'm not into westerns but I really enjoyed it.  The soundtrack is good too.  ;)

QuoteOnce - my enjoyment of this movie was unfortunately ruined after having been a clear indication of how it would end  :(

Sorry that that ruined your enjoyment of the film, db.  For me personally I forgot how it ended until I read your post and I had read Jaimo's post and seen the movie.  For me the end of a movie, any movie, is often filler and the beginning and middle is where it's at.  Few good stories can be satisfactorily concluded in 2 hours or less. For example, Big Lebowski is one of my favorite movies of all time and the end is a little  haphazardly thrown together, certainly doesn't wrap things up in a little bow. but that's just my opinion, I know it's a big deal for you. I hope you were still able to enjoy some of the songs/moments that I took away from the film.

Yeah AMD but I think his point was that it's inconsiderate to let the end of the movie be known.  Whether someone feels like the end is important or not is that individual's opinion.  I sure as shit don't want to know how a movie ends before I watch it, unless say I'm cozying up with me lady to watch Titanic or something.  Then I have a pretty decent idea things aren't going to end well.

And, Lebowski is one of my favorites as well but it's not exactly a thriller or drama where the end is going to change anything.  Hell, you could probably chop the last 45 minutes off of it (save for the stranger of course) and it would be just as good.

Just watched An Unreasonable Man, documentary about Nader.  Pretty good, I genuinely like Eric Alterman as a political writer, but on the subject of Nader, he can go fuck himself.

i don't think the ending was really given away, all he said was it was unconventional.

I know. But then he was told the ending wasn't important to a movie and blah...  He didn't appreciate being told HOW to watch a movie.

I'm not sure why I said anyting in first place.  I have no business in this conversation.

pardon me...excuse me....pardon me....

No, I get it.  I probably should just let the conversation die too.  I was just saying most of the time I'm not concerned the way movies end.  If someone else is that's fine for them, I'm just talking about me.  It could be because I don't really have a thing for thrillers, who-done-its, or romantic comedies, but most of the movies I love (like the Lebowski) would be just as good without the last 20 minutes.  except pulp fiction and the last waltz!

Having a bit of a Cat Stevens week? How do you like Mona Bone? Worth buying?

You caught me!   :D

Mona Bone's just as good as Tillerman and Teaser & the Firecat (which are the only other albums I have of his).  Highly recommended - "Trouble" and "Pop Star" alone are worth it.

Yeah I'm looking forward to that one. Did you know there will also be another Hulk movie this year starring Ed Norton + a Wolverine movie next year?

Yes, I'm a superhero geek  :-[

I still am not sure how I feel about Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. He's too tall. Wolverine was always a short little fucker in the comics if I remember. Actually, Colossus is my fav and was hoping for more of him in the movies. I would love to see the Fall of the Mutant's storyline done up in film.
