The Conversation - Awesome movie, atmospheric and a bit Hitchcockian. Among Coppola's best. I think the Godfather is just a little overrated but still great.
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

Great - blew me away...
Straight Story is one of my favs...such a beautiful movie!

First pic of Brad Pitt in Tarantino's Inglorious Bastards:

God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

QuoteHorror Of Dracula!!!

& so it begins...
Halloween Horror Movie No.2: The Omen (1976) - Richard Donner's first Omen movie has stood the test of time. Gregory Peck is great & Billie Whitelaw is chilling as Damien's 2nd nanny. Jerry Goldsmith, one of my fav soundtrack composers, adds an excellent errie, biblical score.

Halloween Horror Movie No.3: Evil Dead 2 - my wife wasn't a fan! Needless to say I have contacted famous divorce lawyer Helen Ward, with regards to her taking my case after she's finished helping Guy Ritchie.

I'm looking at a framed original movie poster of Evil Dead II right now on my wall. Divorce makes sense to me.

Haha I knew you'd be in my corner! Do you have the above poster?!! That's my fav, I remember it being on the video box horizontally back when I was a VHS horror fiend...those were the days!!!

Is it wrong that I have never seen any of the Evil Dead movies? Not a horror/zombie fan even though I did greatly enjoy Shaun.

Great poster Bear!

Snow Angels - a small film by David Gordon Green about people trying to deal with love & loss. Had potential but failed to have any real impact...not bad but not recommended.

QuoteI haven't watched too many new films since the fall TV season started, but I rather liked Forgetting Sarah Marshall. It's a pretty funny, bawdy romantic comedy (a genre I like - more with classic movies though). Anyway, I think Sarah Marshall is a better film than other Judd Apatow-related comedies like Knocked Up and Superbad (maybe not funnier than the latter, but better all-round). The best of the bunch is still The 40-Year Old Virgin, by a healthy margin.

I watched this last week after my cousin said it was good, and I didnt think it was bad, but I expected it to better. It was better than Stiller's recent tropic getaway romantic comedy 'Heartbreak kid', but I expected more out of it for an Apatow movie (that said, Jason Segel (lead actor in FSM) wrote this movie), but Apatow only produced it.

Havent seen Pineapple Express, but I thought those 3 you mentioned were a decent amount better to much better than FSM

I will agree with you that 40yr Virgin is his best and my favorite too, though. When I say that sometimes, ppl look at me like Im crazy to think its better than Superbad, but its just as LOL funny without trying to be with edgy dialogue.

I watched this again the other night, and I think I was downplaying it a little bit. I still think there were a few 10 minute stretches where nothing funny really happened, but its solid. I put it about on par with Knocked Up, but def not as good as 40YOV or Superbad

I cant get the 'Dracula' or 'Inside of You' songs outta my head  ;D

Oh, and Id def pay to see a Dracula with puppets rock-opera like that. It be awesome

QuoteShort Cuts directed by Robert Altman.

Essential.

agreed.

Also RE: Burn after Reading - Malkovich was good but I really REALLY didn't understand. the entire movie had a feeling of when you walk into a movie late and you're like "man, I guess I missed something, what is going on?" BUT i was early, and still didn't understand. I mean, OK I guess I understood plot wise (if you can say that), but I didn't get why I was watching what I was watching. My friend said it best: Script was that of the dude who wrote undercover brother, but instead written by the Coen Brothers with huge actors you recognize and are confused about their role choice.

I guess I'm not so much hating as much as I am just really trying to gain perspective.  I understand the "commitment to every thing the Coen Brothers do" reason and that's fair enough. Please help me.

The Year of Living Dangerously.  Before Mel Gibson was a superstar (he's great in this movie), Sigourney Weaver, and Linda Hunt wins the Oscar playing a man.  One of my favorite movies ever.  I have no idea how I did not grow up to become an Australian war reporter.
I'm not saying it's easy...walking into sweet oblivion.

Marvel offered Daniel Craig the lead in Thor (now being directed by Kenneth Branagh?!!) but he turned it down?

Well, commitment is one thing, but liking everything they do is nearly impossible and they've also laid some eggs in their career that's for sure. But these last two films have shown they've gotten "it" back.

I think hell end up the best Bond since Connery (though the screenwriting doesnt seem to be hurting)

He could probably pull that off, but Im glad he turned it down

Casino Royale was awesome, Quantum of Solace looks like its just on par.

Ain't It Cool News had a couple of reviews, they all agreed that, whilst the movie isn't bad, it's a big disappointment after Casino Royale set the bar so high.

Well, that kinda sucks, but Casino Royale IMO is def a Top 10 Bond movie, maybe Top 5.

Well see what people are saying once it comes out
