Ive been a big fan of Rourke for awhile now too

Absolutely love Angel Heart, Pope of Greenwich Village, Bullet, and pretty much his role in every movie hes been in.

Ive only seen Benjamin Button which was good but I didnt think Pitt was all that great, but from what Ive seen, Rourke should definitely take this home.

Hopefully he does an hour or so from now

...also, kind of weird timing for a Spielberg lifetime achievement award, no?? he hasnt made a great movie in a decade, and a better than good movie in over 5 years, but they give it to him now?? I dont get it...

Slumdog is straight KILLING it right now...at this point, Id be surprised it doesnt win Best Picture.

I doubt it gets this much love at the Oscars though, which should mean a lot of big awards are wide open

Good results all around! Wish I'd seen Vicky Cristina Barcelona on the plane now.

Hat's off to Kate Winslet...best supporting actress and best actress?!!  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

quite enjoyed the globes, especially the majority of the results.  i've always had a soft spot for award shows - one of the few nights of the year in which my mother would let me stay up past eleven when i was young (my grandmother did the same to her), so yeah.  hoping with the results that slumdog millionaire and the wrestler get a bit wider of a release so i can see them asap.

and now i'm regretting not going to see 'happy-go-lucky' the other week.  :-[

Tropic Thunder - disappointing  :(

Why is it so hard to find a good comedy nowadays? I have high hopes for Role Models...

Couldn't agree with you more.  I really didn't like Tropic Thunder.  However, I am excited to see Role Models (I have a massive man crush on Paul Rudd) and Zack and Miri.

Just saw Devil's Advocate again. Solid
7 Years in Tibet.  Nothing funnier than Brad Pitt saying "Shut Up" in a German/Austrian accent.

I re-recommend A Man Name Pearl as an inspiring, feel good film

Role Models was awesome, my favorite comedy of the year. Has a little lull with a half hour or so left, but for the most part is hilarious the whole way through.

I also thought Tropic Thunder was terrible. RDJr was decent, but his character wasnt funny at all. I wish Jack Black got a little more screentime as he was probably the funniest most often, outside of Tom Cruise.

I still have to see Zack and Miri and also Pineapple Express, but..

My Best comedies of 2008 though were:
1) Role Models
2) Step Brothers
3) Forgetting Sarah Marshall

I doubt either cracks the top 3 but Im guessing both will be better than Tropic Thunder

bearass

finally some tropic thunder haters! i get so much shit for saying i didnt like this movie

i liked sarah marshall but i think pineapple express was the best of the year it might be the stoner in me

role models was good too

Finally got around to seeing Let the Right One In.  It was good, but not quite as good as I was hoping.  One thing that I thought was really effective was the way they revealed the little girl's super-nimble vampire movements.  Really subtle.  The gory parts were less subtle, unfortunately; almost comical.

AICN have been going crazy about this one. Really want to see it, shame it didn't meet your expectations ALady.

Le Scaphandre Et Le Papillon (The Diving Bell and the Butterfly) - absolutely brilliant!

Hollywood star Tom Cruise is planning to bring back the Tropic Thunder character that earned him a Golden Globe nomination.

The actor's comedic turn as bald, overweight, dancing movie executive Les Grossman won him critical acclaim and a seat in the crowd at Sunday night's Beverly Hills award show.

And he reveals he and Tropic Thunder director/star Ben Stiller are thinking about resurrecting Grossman.

Speaking on the Golden Globes red carpet, Cruise says, "We've been talking about doing something for the Internet, or creating a character."

I definitely would put Pineapple Express and Forgetting Sarah Marshall ahead of Step Brothers.  Something tells me Role Models will make it up to the top of my 2008 list also.

I hear ya Bearass.  I go frolfing with some friends and I say one bad thing about Tropic Thunder and they throw a disc at me.  I now feel more comfortable saying that I thought that movie sucked.
