This looks like it might be the best studio comedy of the year (and hopefully Todd Phillip's triumphant return to form): http://theplaylist.blogspot.com/2009/05/mike-tyson-gets-his-singing-debut-in.html

There's another trailer out there that's worth a watch, too.

Dont know if Id say for the year yet since there is still 8 months left, but it looks like it should be the comedy to have come out to that point.

I dont like how they arent going to flashback to the night before at all though. That would seem like plenty of chances for good laughs

I lied.  The Invention of Lying will certainly be the year's best comedy.  I mean c'mon:

I'm not completely sold, but there's no way I'll miss a Woody Allen film starring Larry David and Ed Begley Jr.

I love Larry David but I dont like Woody Allen movies at all (except for Sweet & Lowdown).

Not sure what to make of this, although based on the preview it looks like LD will supercede my dislike of Allen and ill like this movie.

Im going to miss Leon Black in the next season  :'(

Dark Knight, for the 3rd time.

It blew me away the first time at the IMAX, then when I watched it on DVD the first week it came out (on a non-HDTV and no stereo system), I wasnt as quite as crazy about it and thought maybe some of what I believed made it so great was simply seeing it in the IMAX (first movie Ive ever seen in an IMAX, and I might only see 1 movie a year at the theater in general) so the movie overall didn't strike me as quite as good the 2nd time for whatever reason. Now, after the 3rd viewing (on same TV), I think I retract most of what I thought after that 2nd viewing.

After last time, I thought BBegins was the better of the two, but now I dont know. They're both great regardless, but I believe what made me think that originally was Im drawn more towards a movie with a detailed story that builds (and interests me) as opposed to an action flick (which although it is disguised quite well, Dark Knight is).

Heath Ledger in DK is the best part of either though. He steals every scene he was in.

Ironically, I think thats part of the reason why I think BBegins is the better movie. Ledger should have had more scenes/screen time in Dark Knight, and to me, there was no reason to accelerate Harvey Dent becoming Two Face in that movie. That only took more scenes/dialogue away from Joker and really detracts from his character the last hour of the movie. Not to mention, Joker was supposed to be in the next Batman movie, so they easily could've had Dent's progression to Two Face occur in the next movie (although now, if there is a 3rd movie, I doubt the Joker will be in it. And he shouldnt).

Basically, I think DK has more peaks and valleys with an award-winning performance whereas BB just flows great and has a better storyline. Both are great.

I  think Aaron Eckhart put in an award nominee-worthy performance in The Dark Knight. His character's nuances was fascinating.

Normally I don't like films based on comics/graphic novels, but the last two Batman flicks are excellent.

Eckhart was good. I had no problem with his acting or his character, it just felt like they advanced his character too fast, only to kill him off by the end of the movie where he was only Two Face for 45 minutes or so. And all at the expense of giving Joker/Ledger less screen time.

I can enjoy probably over half of the comics they make as movies, but the Nolan Batmans go above and beyond that. They're both great movies even outside of the comic context, and I dont think any other comic movie has even come close to being as good.

I think less was more with the Joker. You can ruin a great role, especially a co-starring villain role, by over-exposure. More Joker would have made the Batman character less appealing, which almost occurs as it is.

I understand what you're saying, but Ledger was the highlight of every scene he was in, so I dont see how a little more screentime would've hurt him. Limiting it, however, didn't hurt either I guess in that regard.

And if you think Eckhart was good, it just makes even less sense to kill his character off so fast.

Eckhart was in most of the movie and as a Harvey Dent, so only his emerging villain character was killed off, and that was at the end of the film. I know what you mean though - you liked Two-Face, but wanted to see more of him or perhaps save him for the next film. Harvey Dent was a good character on its own.

Running Scared

Considering Paul Walker was the lead actor, surprisingly good. A lot of crazy cinematography and color schemes. Stayed pretty fast paced the whole time, so that never hurts.

Worth a watch if its on TV like it was last night.
