Aside from the first 30 seconds, I'm extremely pleased.  One word: OMAR!

Beginning does looks questionable, but the rest looks good.

I see Guy Pearce is in it. The director must have seen Ravenous  ;D

QuoteIs that what really happens? If so then you're a dick for posting that Capt, just because you have no interest in a movie why ruin other people's enjoyment by posting a spoiler like that?

I posted the same pic like 2 months ago, with a spoiler before it. A handful of people thought it was hilarious.

Youre the first person to have a problem with it. Sorry.

I thought that was like common knowledge anyway. How else do animal movies end?! Its not like this is Milo & Otis or something.
Where's the spoiler notice this time? & regardless of whether you post a spoiler notice or not the picture is pretty hard to miss.
Just because other people haven't commented doesn't mean to say they don't have a problem with it.
Any serious, respectful movie fan is careful to avoid spoiling other people's enjoyment of any movie, regardless of how interested they may or may not be in the film.
Obviously you're not a serious movie fan & as for being sorry, no you're not because the picture is still there.
You & I are done talking movies.
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

Were not talking Usual Suspects here. Knowing this ending isnt exactly ruining the movie if someone may want to see it. If anything, it might make it easier for an animal lover knowing that. How would knowing the dog dies take away from the funny or loving earlier moments of the movie?

I didn't actually think Marley and Me was on a "serious" movie fans radar.

I asked my mom and sister who have both seen the movie if they would've cared, and both said they wouldn't have and may have rather known before seeing it. I read on a few other random message boards when it came out in theaters awhile back where people weren't as explicit as myself, but they warned other people that the movie's ending is sad and be prepared for that going in, and it wouldnt be a good idea to take a young child to most likely. Lets be honest - who over 10 years old doesn't know that means the dog dies?! People who went/want to see this movie want to see a movie that shows the good, bad, and funny of owning a dog, knowing the ending doesn't detract from that with this movie.

Since you have such a problem with it, ill take it down, but I think youre overreacting a bit here considering the context.

I don't give a fuck what your mum, sister, grandmother or next-door-neighbor think. Who are they to decide what part of any movie should be important or relevant for me?

Until I saw your post I didn't know anything about the movie other than it stars Jennifer Aniston, Owen Wilson & a dog. I had no intention of watching it but who knows? Only a small percentage of films get released here in Japan & my DVD rental pickings are slim. Also, what my wife wants to watch & what I want to watch is sometimes different. I'm usually in charge of choosing what goes on our rental list because she trusts my judgment but every now & then she slips something dire in there (I'm trying my best to keep What Happens In Vegas away from the top!)
So there is a chance I may watch this & as with any movie I try my best to avoid too much information beforehand. If I know that something is going to happen to one of the characters (in this case a dog) then I have that in the back of my mind whilst I'm watching it - something I don't want.

No of course it isn't Usual Suspects but who are you to decide what movies are relevant? & like I said before, just because other people don't comment doesn't mean to say they're not upset. There are lots of people here who just read the threads but rarely post.

I love The Beatles, The Who, The Rolling Stones but I also love Tom Jones...do I give a fuck what anyone else might think of my music tastes? Of course not. I love Planet Of The Apes, The Empire Strikes Back, Memento...I'm sure I won't love it but maybe I might like Marley & Me too.
You decided that Marley & Me wasn't an important movie that anyone should give a shit about so you posted that 'hilarious' picture.
Do me (& everyone else) here a favor by not making those decisons for us & by taking care not to post spoilers.
And just as I would never tell you what music you should or shouldn't care about, please don't decide for me what movies I should watch or shouldn't watch or consider 'relevant'
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

capt. scotty

Show me where I said the movie wasn't relevant or important.

I said knowing the ending isn't very important in this case, because what happens in every non-animated animal movie is the same: they are lost and come home to their owner, they can play sports, they do heroic things, they can talk, or they die. It isn't rocket science, and this is a true story, so lets put two and two together.

Additionally, the movie isnt about the ending, its about everything that comes before it. The ending is not a result of what occurs in the movie, nor is it caused by something. Im sure you will say that's not the point, and maybe it isnt, but I doubt knowing this ending would ruin the movie for a M&M moviegoer. It certainly didnt distract the millions of people who read the book from seeing it in the theater.

I will lay off the spoilers (I dont think Ive ever posted another one, or at least one that explicit without prefacing it), just try not to let knowing the ending of a fun movie aimed at kids and parents bother you so much.

Hey dragonboy, Marley and Me is a good movie. See it, but better yet, read the book first.

I love what Kevin Smith said about Chris Pine. I can't find the article/quote (it was on IMDB) but he went on & on about how amazing CP was to the extent that he said something like 'I'd pay money to watch Chris Pine have sex with my wife right now'  ;D

Here we go:

Smith Loves New Captain Kirk

14 May 2009 1:30 AM, PDT | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Moviemaker Kevin Smith knows the secret behind the success of the new Star Trek movie - newcomer Chris Pine.

The J. J Abrams' blockbuster has beamed up to the top of the global box office following its release last week (09/10May09), taking a staggering $72.5 million (£48.3 million) in its opening weekend at the U.S. box office alone.

And director Smith isn't surprised the sci-fi adventure has attracted so many cinemagoers - because the new Captain Kirk is the hottest thing in Hollywood.

He tells MTV.Com, "That dude (Pine) is astounding. To be able to involve Kirk without doing a Shatner impression? That performance was so electric and so wonderful to watch.

"That dude is an instant movie star... That dude is gonna work forever. He's so good and effortless in his delivery."

And the Clerks auteur is so taken with Pine's acting abilities, he'd even watch the young star get intimate with his own wife.

He jokes, "I'd watch that dude do anything... I'd watch that dude have sex with my wife at this point. He's such a good actor."
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

Slumdog Millionaire - I'm tempted to say absolute rubbish but the child actors were excellent...

MARTIN SCORSESE'S SINATRA PROJECT OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCED

A year ago this week, the Weekly Ketchup reported Nancy Sinatra's negotiations with Universal Pictures on a biopic of her father, crooner and actor Frank Sinatra, that she hoped Martin Scorsese would direct. This week, the project was finally officially announced by Universal Pictures, with Scorsese indeed attached to direct. Titled Sinatra, the script will be written by Phil Alden Robinson (Field of Dreams, All of Me), whose last theatrical release was way back in 1992 with Sneakers. Although no actor is as yet officially signed to star as Frank Sinatra, one of the producers acknowledged that the top contender is indeed Leonardo DiCaprio, who has obviously emerged as Scorsese's favorite actor in recent years, starring in Gangs of New York, The Aviator, The Departed and the upcoming Shutter Island. However, there is also a rumor that Universal is hot on the idea of Johnny Depp possibly starring as Sinatra, following their happiness with his performance in Public Enemies. There are many different elements of Frank Sinatra's life that seem to be movie-friendly, including his status as one of the most successful singers of the 20th century, his career as an actor, his friends in the Rat Pack, his many romantic conquests, his friendship with J.F.K. and the alleged ties to the mafia. Producer Cathy Schulman said about the scope of the movie that it will be an "unconventional biopic that will touch on all phases of Sinatra's life."

capt. scotty

I'd love to see Scorsese direct that film.

Both actors mentioned are great, but Im not sure either are right for the part of Ol' Blue Eyes. I think DiCaprio is better suited, but I think Marty could possibly find someone who fits better outside of DiCaprio or Depp

Watched a few expectedly average at best movies tonight:

Street Kings - I check my Keanu Reeves bias at the door, and this started out good, but it treaded deep water fast. IMO, the ending was obvious within the first half hour, but the cast didnt seem to think that way, so maybe Keanu was cast perfectly. Wasnt bad and had its moments, but far too predictable, too early. Forest Whitaker turned in a great performance once again, Chris Evans shows he can act once again when he decides to act in a non-popcorn movie, and Hugh Laurie was very good in a supporting role that deserved more time.

The Ruins - this entertained me and kept me interested longer than Street Kings, so put it all together. I figured this to be another Hostel ripoff, but it went slightly beyond that as far as plot.

...on #3

thats what Im saying.

both have the chops, and DiCaprio has surprised me numerous times and might be able to pull it off, but there's an actor who is better suited for this part than either of them.

Yeah DiCaprio is definitely the better suited of the 2. Capt James T Kirk maybe?  ;)

Im no Trekkie, but..

got the eyes, not a bad actor from what I remember seeing him in (Bottle Shock, Smokin Aces), but definitely couldnt handle this role.

Yeah we're cool  ;)

The Expendables posters weren't aimed @ anyone in particular, just thought they looked cool. I love all things related to movies, the posters, trailers, soundtracks...anyone remember sets of movie stills? I think there was always 8 in a set...the owner of the video shop I used to had 100s & 100s of old movie stills, some worth a mint!
