John C was hysterical in Dewey Cox.

very underrated movie. hilarious  ;D

John C definitely has a wider range of ability based on what Ive seen, and can actually act in serious roles.

Hard to say who's funnier than who. All are great. McBride just seems like that guy on the rise who is blowing up after Pineapple Express, Eastbound&Down, and now Land of the Lost.

Milk - great performances in both an uplifting and shocking story. The film's flaw, for me, was that we never know what made Milk tick, what made him go into politics, what drove him. But the story was still fascinating.

Milk, the film, didn't focus on Dan White's anti-gay statements. In fact, the film implied that White enacted revenge on Milk and the San Fran mayor because he lost his power and felt personally and publically humiliated. I found this fascinating.

You don't think so?  I thought it was pretty clear that it was a personal quest - he wanted to codify some rights for people within his own community.  I liked that it touched on his work for the elderly population too.
if it falls apart or makes us millionaires

But what made him get political? I don't think this was made clear. I also wanted to know more about his upbringing/background. However, the movie plays as a snapshot rather than a complete rounded bio-pic, which is okay by me. Great film overall though.

Yeah Jaimoe, you must check out that documentary (and I the non-doc).

Whatever the impetus, I thought it related to whatever made him decide to stop living as a closeted actuarial statistician.  And I think it was sort of implied that it was part of the 60s/70s zeitgeist - a feeling that change was in the air and that individual citizens could actually make things happen if they took action.

But I agree, Jaimoe - I'm sure we only got the tiniest glimpse into his life; there must be so much more that was only hinted at in the film

I want to see that documentary too.

Star Trek is excellent.

Frost/Nixon - a really interesting and well-done film. I like some of Opie's movies (but The Da Vinci Code is one of the worst pieces of cimematic crap I've ever seen), and this may be his most engaging directing job. Michael Sheen nails Frost and Frank Langella is near-perfect, although his exaggerated speech and mannerisms reminded me a bit of Rich Little and other famous Nixon immitators over the years, but it never got in the way of the role. Langella's Nixon was best in the reflective private scenes. All the support characters were fantastic, especially Matthew Macfadyen.

I can enjoy confusing movies, and usually put most of them together to make some sort of sense, but I still have no idea what this movie was about

I didnt read the book, but I thought the movie was pretty entertaining, but I have a crush on Audrey Tautou. Tom Hanks performance was almost as bad as his haircut in that movie, but the movie kept me interested.

Is Angels & Demons actually a lot better like all the commercials say?

Watched Idiocracy again, man, I love this movie. Its stupid, but it really has something going for it more than that. Absolutely hilarious, Mike Judge really outdid himself. If you like other stuff he's done like Office Space or King of The Hill I think you'd like this movie.

The Reader *disclaimer, do NOT see this movie if you're having suicidal thoughts. it's quite the buzzkill--but a great movie nonetheless
