What Movie Did You Just See?

I like films in almost any genre, as long as they are good. Screw anyone who brushes off seeing a movie because it is a "chick flick" or "guy movie."

Anyway, I saw the film adapatation of He's Just Not That Into You, which isn't so much a romantic comedy - as advertised in the trailer - as is a cynical and occassionally funny look at relationships and various types of men: self-centred jerks, "players" and even a good guy (Ben Affleck, surprisingly). Most of the women in the film are slightly bent to outright nuts, but they are the most interstingly written and developed. The men aren't very likable, which is one of the film's flaws. Another thing I didn't like was that every characer is played by a name actor, which distracted  from the film's messages. Overall, I give it a mild thumb's up, even with Scarlett Johanson being in it (someone whose acting - and singing - I loathe). Ginnifer Goodwin playing crazy misguided Gigi is worth the price of admission.

This can't come soon enough.  Especially since each trailer is funnier than the last.

Im actually so sick of seeing Hangover advertisements, I DONT want to see the movie. I cant think of the last movie I saw so much damn advertising for, and usually thats a bad sign.

Im sure itll at least be decent, but I know I wont check it out until its on DVD because I just wont be able to enjoy it as much if I see it now after having jammed into my eyeballs every hour for the last month.

Aside from the few blogs I frequent, I haven't seen a single advertisement for it.  That being said, I turn my television on maybe three times a week.  I don't give a shit who doesn't want to see it, I'll be catching it as soon as possible.

Also, ANVIL STARTS HERE IN 10 DAYS!!!

I wish I could but it's not showing here until Dec!  :-/

Mum & Dad - very bad, shocks-for-the-sake-of-it Brit-horror. Watched it for the amusing Perry Benson (This Is England, Somer Town) not his best role.
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

Not sure how I feel about a new version of Clash. I love if the way it is, Harry Hamlin Nipples of Doom and all.

I'm excited! I love the original & think it's prefect as it is + I'm not usually a fan of remakes. That said I'm a sucker for fantasy/monster movies & can't wait to see what the new Kraken/Calibos etc look like.

I'm seeing it tomorrow night.  Can't wait.  Cars is the only Pixar film I'm not completely in love with, but I still really enjoyed it.

I don't get why people don't like Cars so much (I know I'm in the minority) It's not as good as Nemo, Toy Story or Incredibles but I think it's just as good as Monsters Inc & Bugs Life, maybe even as good as Ratatouille & Wall.E...I know that people will strongly disagree with me though  ;D

As good as A Bug's Life maybe.  But Ratatouille, Wall E, and Monsters Inc.?  Now you're just talking crazy.   ;)

If I even think about the ending of Monsters Inc. I almost need a tissue.   :-/

Trust me, that makes a huge difference. The first couple weeks I saw the commercials, I wanted to see it immediately. Ive been watching more TV than usual due to hockey and basketball playoffs, and there is seriously an ad for it every other commercial session. The last few weeks it just doesnt look as funny to me because of how many ads Ive seen for it. I would guess they arent advertising it as much in Canadia either, but I could be wrong.

Shit, Im probably lying anyway because ill see it at the drive-in a month or so from now, but I definitely want to give it a few weeks of not so many ads overload. I seriously cant remember the last movie that had this much promotion/advertising. MJK or any other people in teh US agree?

Im kind of mad they show the Mike Tyson part in the previews though, because if I went into the movie never having seen that, I might have pissed myself when I saw it.

I liked Cars a lot.

Pixar has just set such a high standard, I try not to compare them really when watching.

Havent seen Wall.E yet, but Id say I definitely like Cars more than A Bug's Life and Monsters Inc. Not Ratatouille though

Saw Days of Heaven and it exceeded my expectations. This one's got to be my favorite Terrence Malick film. Absolute, god-given visual poetry. Cannot wait till Tree of Life.

i ordered the history of stax records documentary that i saw on PBS, but only caught the last 20 min. it looked pretty cool so i ordered it.

It's fantastic. When you watch it, play it loud and play it proud.

if....

Wow.  Malcolm McDowell was beyond brilliant.  His performance in this film might even be better than his in A Clockwork Orange.  The scene with him, another student, and the waitress in a local cafe was incredible.  I won't be forgetting it anytime soon.

:o

Up tonight.   :D
