127 hours - 4/5 - very good movie.....I thought Franco was awesome in this, nearly as good as Bale in the fighter but the character was definitely not as dynamic....for those interested, the book the movie was based on "Between a Rock and a Hard Place" by Aron Ralston is a captivating read and certainly goes into great detail into Aron's life and other crazy adventures he had, this was not his first brush with danger....well worth a read.

what's next? I really wanna see Thor and Bridesmaids.

Maybe I'll just watch Serenity again...any other browncoats out there? Jaimoe did you mention you were a fan?
Ooooh! Serenity. Are you a Joss Whedon fan?

thus far only Firefly/Serenity and Dr. Horrible but have been thinking to delve a lil deeper into his works....I enjoyed Buffy but it was a little past my time as I was in high school when it was on and decided it was not cool for me to be watching that show.....his movie output has been solid as well.
Buffy was a masterpiece of Television and a victim of people judging the show due to it's name and bad movie predecessor. In 7 years I never missed an episode and cried like a little girl the night it went off the air with a fantastic final 4 episode arc. Season 1 is a bit shaky but lays important ground info down. Season 2 is when it really just took off and the writing and acting just went supernova. By the time season 6 hits, you're still not prepared for the things they hit you with. Ever evolving and never predictable. Buffy was and still is a gem. The Whedonverse was never the same after Joss jumped ship and went to Angel tho. Just spread himself too thin. But Buffy holds up. I'm really looking forward to Johnny Depp as vampire Barnabus Collins in the new Dark Shadows flick. With Tim Burton directing it??? Oh yesssssssssssssssssss..

Angel is required viewing for Buffy and Firefly fans. It's not as great as Buffy, but it's close, especially as the seasons roll on.

The only thing about Angel that's really "required" viewing for Buffy fans is the incredible season 1 crossover episode "I will Remember you", which is actually considered by most Buffy fans to be a "The Best Buffy episode ever" that aired during Angel's time slot. Most Buffy fans didn't care for Angel as the tone was so different and it was more of an "Columbo meets The Night Stalker" vibe. But (as with all Joss Whedon stuff) it did indeed get pretty incredible as the seasons rolled along and they created all new mythology. Season 4 and 5 were amazing. But the show's coda was absolutely horrible and left all the fans feeling ripped off. At least Buffy truly "ended" with a final statement that wrapped up the entire show. Not that awful open ending that Angel's followers had to deal with. Either way though, there will never be another show like Buffy. It really shattered so many TV rules and broke so much new ground.
Why does my mind blow to bits everytime they play that song?

Sure, Angel wasn't equal to Buffy, but again, it was close. It certainly was a more realized universe than the unfortunate Firefly. Fuck Fox. I must admit it was frustrating watching Dollhouse. Joss should have pitched that series to the BBC or a small US cable network.

FWIW, Bale won for best supporting actor whereas Franco lost to Firth for best actor. I havent seen any of the 3 yet, but from the first time I saw the trailer I thought Bale was a shoe in for a nomination if not a win.

In also saw the first photo of the villain in The Dark Knight Rises were released yesterday. So stoked to see that but damn its gonna be a wait until a year from now

100% agreeing with you on all of this. Fox destroyed Buffy due to it's lack of belief in the show, the UPN picked it up and coddled it as much as possible, but with Joss on so many other shows, and only coming in for 2 episodes a season, Buffy was doomed. Dollhouse didn't stand a chance even though it could have been great if given time. Eliza will always be Faith to me though. Loved that psycho slayer! I can't even believe they're doing a new Buffy movie WITHOUT JOSS WHEDON, WITHOUT ANGEL, THE SCOOBIES OR GILES!  Absolute rediculousness. I'm part of the boycott team.

oh shit, Bane? Isn't Bane the dude who kills batman in the comics?  it had to fuck things up when ledger died.  his Joker was perfection.

Monsters - very good, definitely not a horror movie though.

Yeppers, Bane. I read in an article the other day that Bane broke Batman's back in 1 comic I think?! Dont know what to think of that necessarily as far as the movie. Dont know what to think about Anne Hathaway as Catwoman either  :-\

Definitely fucked things up as Nolan has said Ledger would still have a big role in the 3rd installment. IMO undoubtedly smart decision to not have someone take over as The Joker for the new one. I watched The Patriot over the weekend, and damn, anytime I watch a movie with Ledger in, I just want to throw on The Dark Knight

catwoman and bane?  weird.  I hope nolan makes catwoman fucked up.   I know what ya mean about heath for sure.  I'm almost surprised Nolan is going to attempt a 3rd on without him.  it'd be cool if they had some footage leftover from the other movie that they can use or something.  if I made a batman movie with joker I'd get tons of footage of him at the insane asylum.  hoping for too much I think.  totally blind sided by the choices tho, last rumor I heard was Depp as the Riddler and Philip Seymour Hoffman as the penguin.  I'm glad they went with bane instead.

If I were Nolan, I would show the outside of Joker's cell room in Arkum Asylum and play some audio of the Joker Laughing or something like that. That way you can still acknowledge the character without showing him. You can't completely disregard that character.

I hope he figures out some sweet way to keep the flow going.  having scarecrow in dark knight was genius.  makes the situation even more intense when all the past villains are still around.  if it would have been any other character from the franchise it wouldn't matter.  but where there is batman there is the joker, that's just what's up with that story.   as long as they don't make one with Robin I'll be cool I think.

Sticky Icky Green Stuff

limitless - 6.5/10 - entertaining, definitely not the best, but kept my attention.  probably because I like experimental drugs.   it reminds me of the big star fantasy stories they use to make back in the 90's.  a few big faces you know and expensive film/edit work.  purely a popcorn flick.

Im almost sure he'd do at least that..Id expect a short deleted scene in all liklihood.

I watched Caroline the second times yesterday,I admire the film mostly because it is good to look at. Selick is as unconventional in his imagery as Gaiman is in his writing, and this is a movie for people who know and care about drawing, caricature, grotesquerie and the far shores of storytelling. In short, you might care little about a fantasy, little indeed about this story, and still admire the artistry of it all, including an insidious score by Bruno Coulais, which doesn't pound at us like many horror scores, but gets under our psychic fingernails.

I enjoyed that movie also...it was quite dark for kids, my nieces prob wouldn't be allowed to watch it, will have to go with Fantastic Mr. Fox for movie night....I also love Neil Gaiman and think that Stardust was a great adaptation and didn't get the credit it deserved, it is the closest thing to the Princess Bride. Wonder if they'll ever adapt American Gods. Terry Gilliam was attached to Good Omens forever, but just like his luck it could never get financed.
