A name that millions are familiar with (thanks to Led Zeppelin III) & yet very few people have actually heard any of his excellent music.

Go here http://www.myspace.com/harperroy & listen to the Same Old Rock (ft Jimi Page on guitar) & then go out and buy the incredible Stormcock.

Also check out the amazing Hallucinating Light from HQ.
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

Did nobody listen to the tracks I mentioned?!!

I was listening to HQ last night, what an amazing album! Dave Gilmour, John Paul Jones, Bill Bruford and engineered by...JOHN LECKIE!!!

His myspace page has another song up, the beautiful Another Day. Do yourselves a favor & check him out.

Well, I gotta reply to this, since it is quite sad to see you talk to yourself here  ;D

Listened to a couple of tracks as well. Good stuff and hats off!

dragonboy

Thanks for taking pity on me Serg  ;)

Seriously though, I amazed that nobody else has been blown away by these songs, in particular Same Old Rock (ft Jimi Page!!!) Your loss f**kwits  ;)

Finally we're getting somewhere! Do you have any of his albums Rccola? I only have Stormcock & HQ.

John Fahey? I've heard the name but don't know much about him other than that he was rather good with the 6 strings...

Hats off to you Sir!  :)

Just remembered where I heard the name John Fahey. My favourite album last year was Cloud Of Unknowing by James Blackshaw:

Somehow he led me to Robbie Basho:

...who led me to John Fahey!

Check out James Blackshaw if you have time, amazing guitarist! In fact, I'm going to take off Syd Barret & play one of his CDs now.

Yeah, I know  :o

Every time I put on one of his albums I'm blown away. I've recomended him to fans of Nick Drake but I think anyone who appreciates good music, certainly guitar music should give him a listen.

I'll say it again, my favourite album from 07 was this one:

God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

dragonboy

I feel the need to push James Blackshaw now that I have the chance...

"... A veritable solo symphony that's as schooled in uncommon beauty as it is in complex 20th century composition... Blackshaw writes high drama into instrumental music with subtlety and charm, speaking on sentiments and stories without requiring a single lyric... Blackshaw seems fully settled, engaging his pieces and ideas with the unflinching belief of Tony Conrad in 1964 or Steve Reich in 1965... The Cloud of Unknowing carves out a new, peerless space altogether-- one that puts Blackshaw at the top of his class."

Very good article here:

http://www.popmatters.com/pm/feature/64093/hats-off-an-interview-with-roy-harper/

"Jimmy Page wrote a song about him. Paul and Linda McCartney sang back up for him. And now, after decades of languishing as "the longest running underground act in the world", Roy Harper is reissuing his entire catalogue to a world that may just finally be ready for him."
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

On the Roy Harper topic, Have A Cigar is one of my favorite Pink Floyd songs. His vocals are killer on that song
