...all cite Bert Jansch as a major influence!

"His work has influenced such artists as Johnny Marr, Bernard Butler, Jimmy Page, Ian Anderson, Nick Drake, Donovan and Neil Young, and earned him a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2001 BBC Folk Awards."*

"Jimmy Page not only recorded a version of Jansch's "Blackwaterside" but cites him as an influence. He is quoted as saying "At one point, I was absolutely obsessed with Bert Jansch. When I first heard that LP [1965], I couldn't believe it. It was so far ahead of what everyone else was doing. No one in America could touch that.""*

"As much of a great guitar player as Jimi [Hendrix] was, Bert Jansch is the same thing for acoustic guitar...and my favourite" – Neil Young*

"He completely re-invented guitar playing and set a standard that is still unequalled today...Without Bert Jansch, rock music as it developed in the '60s and '70s would have been very different. You hear him in Nick Drake, Pete Townshend, Donovan, The Beatles, Jimmy Page and Neil Young. There are people playing guitar who don't even realise they've been influenced by him" – Johnny Marr*

I bought his 2 disc best of Dazzling Stranger earlier this year...maybe it was last year? & have fallen in head-over-heals-in-love with his music! (making the most of the current finical situation (yen/pound) I have just ordered 10 or so of his albums + the new Pentangle 4 disc box set)

Do yourself a favour & check him out:

New to his music? Please let me know what you think  :)
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

Ghosts_on_TV

considering johnny marr is my favorite guitar player ever, I owe it to myself to check him out.
Some girls mothers are bigger than others girls mothers...

I saw Pentangle earlier this year.  Jansch and Renbourn on the same stage is something to behold...

The eponymous solo debut is spectacular.
The trouble with the straight and the narrow is it's so thin, I keep sliding off to the side

I'm gonna bump this one time to rescue it from page two.
So what should I assume from the lack of replies here? Nobody bothered to check the songs out? People checked them out & didn't like them?!!

OK I'll try again...

Don't know why I cannot make my acoustic sound like that...Oh wait I know why. Talent usually is a requirement. ;D

dragonboy

I know you've got the family to consider but have you thought about getting yourself down to the crossroads?
