I'm not a huge fan of the Cardinals, so I'm not that bothered by Ryan parting ways with them. And as far as Ryan not making music anymore...taking that with a HUUUUGE grain of salt. Dude is nothing if not mercurial.

Sounds like another pity party to me. How can't he just block out what idiots say and just do his thing? I personally LOVE the Cardinals and hope this isn't the end of the road. Although I'll take another Heartbreaker, too!

he posted another blog saying it was taken out of context, so i guess take it for what it's worth. i didn't read it all because it was too long for me to read at work, but from what i've seen others say - he isn't completely quitting, just stepping back and taking a break or something.

That's how I read the first statement. But he says pretty definitively that he's done with the Cardinals.

He did a funny bit about it when I saw him in Indianapolis last year...something about how when people yell for "Come Pick Me Up" it makes him feel bad, because he thought he was doing a pretty good set up until then...something like how yelling "Come Pick Me Uuuuuuup!" was like yelling "Nooo, do it like this" in the middle of really romantic sex ;D

That had to be the best show of the tour last year. I think I played that show non-stop for a month. I still routinely have to play the Dear John from that show b/c it was just brilliant! :o :)

Ghosts...thanks for posting this. A friend's Facebook status was updated last night to say something to the effect of seem him while you can and I was confused.

I hope this is just a "step back" and not anything permanent, because some of the stuff that he writes/performs is just heartbreakingly beautiful. Would be a shame lose that...

i haven't been there either. I know they just opened up last year with a string of shows including the decemberists. Black Keys are playing there 2/2. I didn't see DBT but I could be wrong. I know Levon is playing there as well.

I live across the street from the Boonton train station. I cannot stand that despite all the taxes we pay this state cannot even maintain a train line on the Boonton line. That would give you direct access to the Montclair station from Hoboken on the weekends.

Or as another person put it, "in 1850 it took approximately 55 minutes to get from Morristown to NYC. 150 years later, despite all the technological advancements, that time has increased to 90 minutes"

I hope it's a good venue.

yeah i already checked on the trains---not a good situation (being that it's a sun night doesn't help either). i know a couple others coming from upstate for that show. i'm sure it'll be awesome!

oh maybe it was levon and DBT..i knew someone was playing there that i liked...

let me know how that venue is :-)
