And Derek Trucks threw out a rumour that Dickey may guest with the Brothers down the road.

bold99

those shows look insane.  Taj Mahal showing up to do Statesboro.  Wow.  Lucky B going tonight, I read that tonight might be Clapton and Buddy Guy.   Dickey was invited, Bonnie Bramlet has already rehearsed with them and so has Boz Scaggs...Butch Trucks did an interview and said most of this.  I can't wait to hear Loan Me A Dime with Boz....Jackie Greene sings this with Phil's band and it kills but with Derek doing Duanes part I can only imagine how killer this will be.

oooh....man, thats going to be killer to have trey and page sit in a few times.

some of my favorite shows still are those phil and friends ones with trey on the axe
The thing is, Bob, it's not that I'm lazy, it's that I just don't care. - Peter Gibbons

I Imagine Susan Tedeschi will show up at some point...i'd rather see her than Sheryl Crow.

I read today that Buddy Guy was heard saying he was showing up to play with the Allmans at one of his shows last week.  I'd kill to see that.

Agree. Wish I was in NYC this evening.

What a shocker that Sheryl Crow is involved. Is there a festival, tribute or charity event that she hasn't been involved in? She should just fuck off.

Oh, and what fucking zoned-out hippy filled out that list?

It's Bonnie Bramlett, John Hammond Jr., Garry Rossington, Page (you'd think Wavy Gravy would be able to spell a member of Phish's first name) and Kid Rock.

Jbones72

I would love to be at the show with Bonnie Bramlett, they'll probably do a couple of tunes for Delaney.

THAT'S a hell of a show.  :o When you come back down to Earth, give us some more of your insight on what went down!

well to start, there was no written setlist for the show. they were playing from the seat of their pants which makes it even more amazing, imo.

started out real solid, but by the time they got to 'bhw>the other one jam>bhw' there was already fire coming off derek's fingers. the kid is a true virtuoso. and then buddy FUCKING guy comes out for 'the sky is crying' and i literally thought the ceiling was going to cave in on us...and then to really just slap us all in the face another time trey and page come out with buddy FUCKING guy, still on stage to play southbound. video here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wHnMWOSW3c

set break was great as most of the theatre had to be resuscitated.

second set opens with trey and page back and they go into 'rider', at which point i'm convinced i'm fast asleep dreaming, but i wasn't because it only got better. trey and page stay on stage for the best version of elizabeth reed mine ears have ever had the lucky opportunity to hear live. just amazing. trey and page shake hands and leave the stage to a nice ovation, to only have warren continue the face melting experience during 'dreams'. and from there it was into the 'jessica>drums>jessica' to close the set.

they came back out for a truly spirited encore of 'statesboro', and by the end of it you could tell everyone in the building, band included, had fully realized how special the last 2 1/2 hours were.

to say i was glad to be there would be a disservice to the entire night. i will not soon forget it.

That is AWESOME, and I am extremely jealous.
"...it's gonna be great -- I mean me coming back with the band and playing all those hits again"

5 friends and I just pulled the trigger on tickets for Friday 28th! Here's to one more great Beacon run

Murph

These last four beacon shows have been postponed for the time being due to Gregg's bronchitis. Pretty upsetting news, I feel especially bad for anyone traveling to NY and had already planned their trip. Hopefully he'll be feeling better soon.

GO4IT

Yeah, a bummer for sure, but not a big deal for me to cancel.  I was just going to drive up for Sat-Sun.  Had some fun things lined up with old friends but hopefully they'll pick a good weekend to reschedule and I'll get to see their last show at the Beacon after all.
