My EP arrived today!
Hogtied...is OK but the EP is many times better IMO.
My only complaint is that it's not a full album, excellent stuff!
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

What's your favorite buffalo song off the ep?

Hmm, that's a tough one...
Where Dirt & Water Collide, Love Song #1 & The Matador are my favs but the whole EP is excellent.

My favorite is 10 til' 2. It's like a short film. A love song about a hooker, classic.

Anyone seen him live?

CC

Watched Donovan Frankenreiter's Abbey Road dvd and The White Buffalo joined him on stage for one song. It's a short appearance and he's kinda down in the mix but it was sweet.

I'll have to check that DVD out.

I'm trying to refrain from listening until my copy of Hogtied and the EP arrive.  It's hard.

thebeard

Got the DVD. The Buffalo's performance is the high point of the whole show.

EP arrived today.  It's been on repeat for over an hour, and I'm still not sick of it.  Amazingly, neither is my wife (and that's really saying something)
The trouble with the straight and the narrow is it's so thin, I keep sliding off to the side

MarkW

QuoteReminds me of someone else too, can't pin point who yet.

I think I've got it.  Drop Tracy Chapman down an octave... it's the vibrato.

Haha, I haven't listened to Tracy Chapman in years!
Cat Stevens & Richie Havens are the two artists I think of when I listen to the EP.
Anyone else get Hogtied yet? What did you think of it?

I got "hogtied like a rodeo" three or four days ago. It's been on heavy rotation along side the ep. Love the song "Story",  I can't get it out of my head. " The woods, I believe, Today' Tommorow, & Sweet hereafter" are all amazing and sparse much like the ep. Very raw and stripped.  The others are all very good  songs yet are a little over produced for my taste. Great words and melodies throughout.

My copy of ''Hogtied...'' arrived on Friday and the EP today.  This man has far too much talent.  He's certainly going to be a legend.

I seriously think this is might be the best EP I've ever heard - I just can't get sick of it.

I just can't understand why this EP hasn't caused a serious buzz.
it's been out for over a year now.

got Hogtied yesterday, checking it out today!

CC

QuoteGot Hogtied...in the post today.
Have only played it once but it didn't have quite the impact his EP did on me.
Obviously early days yet...

I have been playing Hogtied... almost non-stop for the last 24 hours and I agree it's not as instantly brilliant as the EP but it's been really growing on me. It's almost like two different ep's put together. There's the more traditional, country-ish songs (I Believe, The Bar and The Beer, Sweet Hereafter etc.) and there's the more 'challenging' songs that are more like the EP (Bad Man, Carnage, Time, Wrong etc.). So maybe not as hard-hitting and fleshed-out as his recent stuff but stick with it, it's a real grower.

I'm going to the new years show @ the house of blues in san diego. Anyone else going? I hear The Buffalo is insane live. Better than recordings.

Jupp Sacamano

I think the guy is really cool. Unfortunatly I only own his EP, but it's awesome. Saw him live back in '05. He opened for Donavon Frankenreiter. Great 40 minutes and his voice literally filled the whole room. Hope he releases a new full-length LP some time soon.

The new years eve show was truly amazing. Even better live than recorded. A seriously moving experience. I almost shit my pants during 10 til' 2, so beautiful. He closed with some country and western medley including Folsom Prison Blues.  This mans power and vocal range is unmatched. I have no idea how he remains underground. I'm going to see him again tonight at the Orange County Museum of Art at something called The Happening. I can't wait.

What about The White Bufffalo opening for Jacket? It seems like a great fit.
