Most of you already know he covered "Golden" on his last album.  There is an interview at Jambase where he talks about MMJ.

Quote...we did a My Morning Jacket tune off It Still Moves, which was a record Joe and I used to wear out while we were on the road. I am one of those people who consider that band extremely important right now."

Love Marco...he's out on tour with some fairly badass musicians right now, too.  Check him out if you can.

Who is he?  I have never heard of him.  I am in the transformation of becoming familiar with new music.

He's half of The Duo.  Joe Russo is the other half.  Check out http://beneventorussoduo.com/ for the Duo.

He's playing in Wilkes-Barre at this bar down the road from me in March. I'm gonna go. I saw the duo there last year and they were great.

Hah, I remember when they were still called Benevento/Russo Duo and were playing Phish aftershows in Brooklyn and a couple other places.

Saw them on NYE at BB Kings a few years ago with Mike Gordon...it rocked.

Nice to see he's a fan of the Jacket

I got the chance to see the Duo the day after Christmas when they were playing with The Slip in Boston and then again after MSG for a late night set with Surprise Me Mr. Davis. These were my first experiences getting to hear them live (let alone twice in such a short period of time). They put on a pretty good show and both times you could tell they had some fans that were very involved in the experience.

Personally, I learned that Wild Turkey and a 4-hour MMJ show were a little too physically demanding for me to get that into the late night set in NYC, but it was still a great time.

sweet marco is a bad ass.

2) Langerado '06 has them covering Muzzle of Bees as an intro to 9x9
3) Joe Russo's side project, American Babies, is the best band to ever have such a horrible name

Love American Babies first and foremost because Joey can sing!  We saw them a while back in Baltimore and I was shocked--in the good way!  There's an article on Jambase about Joe right now as well and it's looking like the Duo will be coming back soon...YAY!  ;D

And now, back to your regularly scheduled MMJ chatter.  :)

American Babies are cool, but I miss Brothers Past.

Brothers Past are still around, aren't they? I could have sworn I saw them in a lineup on some festival for this year. I don't mind them, but they're a different breed than American Babies. The AB album is a great warm evening beers in the back yard album.

Brothers Past are VERY Philadelphia. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but that's the whole Bisco/Particle/Lotus electrojam thing.

One last duo comment: I appreciate the guys even more for helping to change the Brooklyn/NYC scene. No longer is it solely an ironic mustache 80s-nu-new wave scene for skinny jeans and front mullets. The guys have been instrumental in keeping clubs open til 3 or 4 am with extended sets and helping bands like the Slip, Phonograph, and AB establish a good jam vibe through the city.

Tom Hamilton started AB as a side project, and then Brothers Past kinda dissolved. He said they are not "done" done, but I havent seen them around lately, and they used to play at the same bar I said I'm going to see Marco at like 2 or 3 times a year.

Sad to hear they're not doing stuff. I only heard them during my year in Wilmington, so I got to get a bunch of their stuff. One Rabbit Race was in heavy rotation this time last year for me.
