+ the bonus question: Fifi Trixibelle & Heavenly Hiraani Tiger Lily have the same mother...who is she?

Fifi Trixibelle and Michael Hutchence

Might have switched those two?

Same mother, I used to know that one but can't remember now.

Yes, those two are the wrong way round. Their mother was Paula Yates.

QuoteYeah, I'm talking about the sy song.  I can name a shit ton of songs Kim Gordon sang but I'm really struggeling with this third Kim Deal song.  I'm not as familiar with new Pixies.

The two great musical Kims of my youth.  One's on Doolittle (my least favorite Pixies song), one's not on any album or ep that I'm aware of.  Doolittle's La La Love You was sung by drummer David Lovering - the only other Pixie song not sung by Black/Frank/Charles that I'm aware of.

The one of Doolittle might be Silver.
The unreleased one could be Tony's Theme, which is on the live bonus disc included with Death To The Pixies.

Silver is correct!  So there's 4:  Gigantic, Into the White, Silver, and.... Bam Thwok (the song they released (internet only) when they reunited - not their finest work and perhaps part of the reason no new album was recorded).

You threw me with Tony's Theme.  I knew that she did the speaking part on that song and some of the screaming, but I was pretty sure that Black/Frank/Charles did the singing.  See here:

The Doctor is indeed quite right on both counts!
Blue Angel is The Edge's daughter & Dandelion in Keith's.
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

Yep, you're right. I only remembered the speaking part.

Oh wait, doesn't Kim sing In Heaven as well? Might be live versions only?

Edit: confirmation on youtube...

But no...

Your clip is from the reunion.  But the recorded version (at least the one I have) is Black/Frank/Charles.  Some of the best rock yelling ever.  So maybe they both sing it, he fucking SINGS it.

QuoteI think it's about time we revive my absolute favourite thread...
Sorry K I missed this! Great Idea & hopefully it will bring my good man Greggy out of hibernation  ;)

The rules are simple (for anyone new to the thread) if you get a question right then please give us a new one. If you're 100% sure you've got the right answer then there's no need to wait for confirmation. Try not to make your questions too obscure, if nobody gets the answer after a day or 2 then please give an A,B,C,D option. & no cheating obviously!

Question No.5 In What Year Did The Festival Take Place?
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

aMD

Okay, I think I have most of these

1) Joni Mitchell
2) Richie Havens - Played for three hours because none of the other artists had made it to the venue. they told him to play one more and he made up "Freedom" on the spot, the song would become his most popular ever
3) Star Spangled Banner --> Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)
4) Rolling Stones (that's a guess)
5) 1969

I always thought (like amd) Hendrix closed with Voodoo Chile/Star Spangled Banner.

As this is apparently not the case I'm gonna guess Hey Joe .

Another guess for nr 4, The Kinks?

Not The Kinks though!

1) Who did the Hollies write CarrieAnn for?

2) Who is Norah Jones father?

3) Name three artists that John Hammond "discovered"?  (Two might have to be enough)

Thinking of questions to ask is often more difficult than answering.
