Blitzen trapper - American Goldwing  :-\ Just not that impressed. It sounds to be derivative of their best 2 albums Wild mtn Nation  and Furr....it's seems that these guys have not been able to improve upon their sound as a space-y Dylan troubadours.

I stumbled into this thread for the first time in 2-3 months and just saw this. I had no clue they released a new album, I'll give it a listen. Just a thought without listening, this is their 3rd album in less than 4 years (and 4th album in 5 years), maybe they havent really given themselves time/the chance to evolve or improve.

Destroyer of the Void was disappointing to me, interested to listen to this since you compare it more to Furr and WMN

i love that they went back to what they do best...these songs are terrific..
this is one of my favorite albums of the year now..Destroyer of the Void didn't work for me..
but come on...there's nothing sexy about poop. Nothing.  -bbill

I definitely agree with you, Penny. This album was an immediate favorite of the year for me...although after seeing them live a few weeks ago, the new material was my least favorite that they covered. Wild Mountain Nation and Furr tunes definitely stood out.

Maybe the new stuff just needs more road-time, but I just hope they don't get pegged as being "that band" who relies on the sound of a past era to become successful. I think (hope) they're more than that.

YES! the day after i saw PJ20 for the first time i listened to every PJ album through Riot Act in my car on the job (i deliver food, thus in my car for a long time)

AND YOU KNOW WHAT, anyone who says Riot Act sucks, sucks. Riot Act is an AMAZING album. I am Mine, are you kidding me? One of the best songs of all time.

Fell asleep to this one last night. Not real sure how far I made it, but I slept good regardless.

Nice, ophid!!

Solid album!!

Donovan is so much like Mr. Dylan sometimes it's mind-boggling.  Here he is with "Oh Deed I Do"

I enjoyed it

I've been reluctant to give this record a listen.  Maybe I'm going to have to be persuaded...

There's a big Graceland anniversary coming, and with it a deluxe reissue box set with Paul Simon bringing it to you and staying for the weekend.  That or some unreleased takes and live cuts.  One of those.
The fact that my heart's beating is all the proof you need.
